Trump’s Attempt to Circumvent Congress Leaves Uneasy Senate Republicans With Hard Choice

Yup and Republicans have had no power or authority from 1970 until now.....right?
Again give me a ****ing break!

You are the one that brought up the 70's when Democrats were I control...…..deal with it *&***())

Shame on me my ass. You are not paying attention of what is going on with massive quanities of heroin and fentanyl for the cheap where the pushers are targeting our young. Shame on you.

Push your wall agenda without pretending it has any bearing on the opioid crisis. Better yet, forget the stupid wall or fence or whatever it is and put that money toward providing the health care those people need.

No, shame on you. Its not the illegal stuff that is killing our kids. Its the leftover overprescribed **** that they are stealing from their parents who got it from doctors who got kickbacks for prescribing it from the drug companies.

Its just easier to bitch about illegal drugs when you are a corporate bootlicker and don't want to call out the real assholes in the matter.

Better yet, secure the damn border. Stop the feckless amount of cheap heroin and fentanyl from pouring through. Get illegal immigration under control and use the hundreds of billion to assist those who became addicted and other things like infrastructure.

Now that hurts. Does this mean we're breaking up? Did you ever care about me, even a little bit? Oh the emotional devastation, I'm crushed.

When you get a moving on or dismissed from Mycroft, that means either you struck a nerve or you're winning the debate.

Personally I consider it a point of pride, and it amuses the hell out of me...

And you are uninformed. Duh.

Use what hundreds of billions? Is Mexico going to provide those, too?

"Pushers", really???

The hundred billion dollars that we fork out yearly dealing with illegal immigration. Did I spell it out enough so you could easily understand this time. *)))&M

You aren't making sense here.

On the one hand, we have proof that legal opiates are killing people 2 to 3 times more often than illegal drugs. Since we know that to be true, the question begs.....even if we took you at face value about the amount of smack on the streets, aren't you kinda making the case that people should actually be using that instead of the prescription drugs, as apparently even with the huge quantities of the bad **** on the streets, more people are dying from the legal stuff at 2 to 3 times the rate?

Just stop....its not the problem you are trying to make it out to be. Its just not. Please don't try to make it out like I'm advocating for it either...I'm simply calling a spade a spade here, and in this instance, the thing you bring up is not as major as you are trying to convince people it is.

No.

Best to pick some group whose problem has nothing to do with your anti-brown-people wall and hold them up as a human shield again.

I am making plenty of good sense for people who don't have their heads up their ass.

And you are uninformed. Duh.

That's a pretty nervy comment coming from someone who is completely ignoring the real problem here.

I'm not the one who tried to make the wall about the opioid epidemic, and for the record, you shouldn't have either, since its been shown that legal drugs kill people at a far greater rate than illegal ones do.

Want people to stop dropping dead from drug overdoses? You could save a larger number of people if you made overprescribing as big a crime as dealing on the streets.

Those are facts.

Ding Ding Ding needed the race card did ya . How pathetic.

Stop. Your use of the opioid crisis is grotesque in this context. If you cared about it, you'd be advocating dealing with it, not building a useless wall that has no bearing on it.

I'm not the one with cranial-rectal inversion here.

Keep on bleating though.....you might convince someone you are bartering in good faith one day.

If you had half the knowledge you claim you would not have made that post. Ignorance is not bliss.

Stop using this crisis and these people's personal hell to push your irrelevant wall agenda.

Shame on you.

1. “Feckless amount” is nonsensical. Learn the meaning of words before using them.
2. The vast majority of illegal drugs enter the United States through legal ports of entry, not shoved up the asses of illegal immigrants swimming/wading across the Rio Grande.
3. Hundreds of billion? You mean hundreds of billions of dollars? Yeah, that’s wrong too.

Geez, even Grokmaster usually gets one thing correct in his posts. How’s it feel to be one of the least informed people in this forum?

The opioid crisis is linked to overprescribing of legal drugs that goes back for years. A wall won't change that history, alter physician prescribing patterns, or treat those addicted today.

Shame on you.

As you have correctly noted, the American drug problem is a demand problem much exacerbated by drug dealing big pharma. In fact, most addicts today are introduced to Opioids through prescription drugs prescribed by doctors. Now those same pharmaceutical companies like Perdue consider the potential for opioid detox drugs as a big opportunity having in effect created the problem in the first place. At any rate, however addicts got where they are, its a demand problem. As long as the demand is as strong as it is there will always be a means pursued to absorb or sate that demand. Yes, advanced technology at POE's makes sense because the bulk of the illicit drug trade enters that way. You can get a heck of a lot more product in the bottom of a trailer or in the hull of a freighter than you can get on a mule's back. Its simple math.

It makes sense to stem the tide of supply as effectively as we can because while the supply side of it is driven by the demand, when you are awash in supply, that is when the big criminal enterprise drug wars start to overwhelm the Public Safety systems and you end up with gun battles on the streets, death and destruction all around as criminal enterprise tries to elbow out competitors, all of them trying to flesh off their excessive inventory of illicit drugs and control areas of distribution. But that won't cut demand which is the heart of the problem.

You must diminish demand if there is any hope of truly doing something to reduce the cost of addiction to this country in lives wasted, in violence and in simple economic terms. The insane levels at which we focus on supply are addressing the wrong end of the horse. Its a little like saying there is a problem with the ease with which guns are available which in many ways is driven by an industry that only knows one thing to do, make more guns. So lets give everybody a gun and that will solve the problem of excess supply. Somehow the lack of logic in that argument escapes some people. But just as we are unwilling to take on the big gun lobby and the manufacturers it supports, we are unwilling to actually take on drug demand in this country, big pharma and its lobby either.

Right. It was declared under an executive order but then a 9th Circuit judge said it couldn't be repealed with an EO and had to go through congress. Since the judiciary is no longer going to allow Democrats and Republicans in the Executive the same authority Trump had to find another way.

We are talking about Trump using the Emergencies Act to get something Congress would NOT give him. A poster said Obama did the same thing and he clearly did not.

In fact, I cannot find the case of a single president who used that same law to get something that Congress earlier turned him down on. Not one.
