Trump’s Attempt to Circumvent Congress Leaves Uneasy Senate Republicans With Hard Choice

circumvent Congress?
What is a president to do when Congress will not uphold their oath to the Constitution to secure our borders?

In 2017 more people died of drug overdoses mainly opiods such as heroin in the U.S. than all the Americans died during the Vietnam war.

<snipped for brevity>

You do realize that the number of people who died from PRESCRIPTION drugs was more than twice that of those who died from ILLICT ones, right? If that is your bogus reason for wanting a wall, to keep out the drugs killing people, then you may as well not even put it up, since Pfizer and Merck are already here.

And these numbers continue to rise as how cheap heroin and fentanyl are on the street that is POURING through our southern border.

Again, not even close to the biggest problem we have with drugs, but you know that now, so....

Complete and utter nonsense. The democrats already have a history of ignoring laws to force their political will onto everyone. Obama has a long record of thumbing his nose at congress. Trump isnt doing anything new.

Okay - lets see you back up your position: show us one incident of Obama declaring a national emergency after he asked Congress to appropriate money for something and they turned him down.

Drug overdoses killed more Americans last year than the Vietnam War - CBS News

And these numbers continue to rise as how cheap heroin and fentanyl are on the street that is POURING through our southern border.

How many have to die before you morons admit it is a crisis we face as a nation? Right now many states are being forced to address legislation to disclose all housing once occupied by drug users and dealers as well as car rentals because the residue from fentanyl can be lethal. A grain no larger than salt can kill a person.

Have any of you viewed some of the fencing already along the border? If you have you would learn that there are a good number of miles that were erected to keep vehicles from driving across the border but they are certainly not adequate enough to keep people out. Arizona's border fencing is the worst in my opinion.

It costs taxpayers 100 billion state and federal over illegal immigration every year. When will you morons accept the fact that it is a crisis in cost? When it hits 200 billion, 300 billion?
It costs taxpayers billions every year over opiods pouring through the Southern border. But I have a feeling the morons on this forum don't pay much taxes and are more than happy to saddle the next generation with the tab because they are selfish arses.

The number of sex trafficking is way up in the past months. When will that become a crisis to you? Will it be if it is your daughter or granddaughter then you might find it to be a crisis then? What about gangs and bad people getting in? Will you only find that a crisis when they harm someone you love?

G-d help us.

Where was the outrage and locking down the borders when crack, cocaine and heroin were killing people from the 70's on. Oh yeah back then it was a choice so you got sent to jail for 5-20 years....NOW it's a crisis!
Give me a ****ing break.

DACA was already pointed out in this thread but theres also several changes me made to ACA that went against what congress passed.

Back in the seventies and eighties? Back then it wasn't coming across the mexican border, more like the french connection and miami.

Are you saying that DACA was done under the National Emergencies Act?

I do not see it on the list

Folks on the right make it sound like a wall along our southern border will cure all of america's ills.

You know...I made a comment in another thread about this national emergency situation causing Trump haters to increase their hyperbole. You are proving me right.

In any case, you've been here a short time, but you should know by now that I speak for myself. I don't give a rat's ass about what anyone else says. So you are wasting your time talking about what you think "Folks on the right" are saying.

Moving on...

I would suggest that there is a long standing and extensive history of the Executive branch implementing and enforcing the laws which the Legislative branch created. The prior administration was LAUDED for acting on that precedent (does the term DACA ring a bell?) while this administration is being excoriated for it.

I would suggest that the hypocrisy of the Democrat party and many of their supporters has reached epic proportions.

DACA was NOT declared under the National Emergencies Act - the law which Trump is using to do this and for which he is being criticized for misusing.

Before you start your posts maybe you should do some research. Democrats held the majority in both houses in the 91st Congress and continued in the 92nd Congress.

Maybe you should ask them why the heck they didn't take drugs so seriously. It seems to be a norm for them after all these decades.

But thanks for bringing it up because it shows the fecklessness continues after many decades when it comes to Democrats.

Trump’s Attempt to Circumvent Congress Leaves Uneasy Senate Republicans With Hard Choice

th

Caring only about his own political optics, Trump has put the GOP in the onerous position of degrading their own Constitutional powers.

Will the GOP suddenly discover a spine? I highly doubt it.

I have no sympathy whatsoever for Senate Republicans who are not as yet getting what they deserve out of having made themselves craven fools to Fat Donald. I will very likely not ever post anything serious about Fat Donald again in these pages. After Friday, there is no longer any rational for taking him seriously. He is a stooge at best. I will post regarding the serious consequences of having this idiot in the WH. I will post about why the things he does are so dangerous and stupid. But I will not ever post anything regarding Trump himself other than an effort to punk or troll or otherwise satirically describe Fat Donald.

I do have some sympathy for the military men, the Intelligence Chiefs. I am not sure how far down into this current Administration you have to go to find an economist that did not get his degree from a crackerjacks box or is now senile. So I will leave them out. The attorneys that have clearly told Trump that while there was this bendy, twisty, tortured route barely covered by assorted fig leaves and slippery dodges to the funds he wants to use as a means to continue his Wall Fight, that was all there was. Side roads and slipshod use of statues that that include volumes of litigation stretching out ahead. Then only to have Fat Donald make a completely self serving decision to do it anyway and then head for a golf weekend after offering the most bizarre Rose Garden presser I have ever seen has got to be galling to these guys.

As for the other serious, studious, well educated, well suited to their tasks, bureaucrats and various and sundry other public servants that Trumpets chid constantly, they also have my sympathy as they must take Fat Donald seriously. Of course Trumpets relish that. "Yea, they have to treat Trump with respect because he is President. What good is that education now goober." You folks are as big a joke as Fat Donald is and you are even bigger suckers.

People make mistakes. Public Servants make mistakes. But at least they are Public Servants. To chid them they way Trumpets do in favor of the Orange Buffoon in the WH is a disgrace.

Oh I am well aware of the deaths caused by prescription drug abuse and this administration in two years has made major inroads in solving that problem. I was focused on heroin and fentanyl and the numbers coming out of the number of deaths associated with them.

Are you homeless? You're always moving on. Do you have an idea of where you're going? Is moving on like dismissed? As I've stated before, I don't hate trump, I recognize him for the con man blowhard he is. And yes, those on the right or leaning right want the wall. More americans are against it than for it, that basically means those on the right....finish the wall.

Heroin and fentanyl are basically the same thing as oxycontin. They are at a minimum, derivatives of said drug. Or the other way around, depending on how you look at it.

The number of drug deaths related to those illegal drugs is absolutely dwarfed by the number of deaths related to the legal versions of the same damned things. What major inroads has the administration made in curbing that problem?

And the republicans war on drugs is a good thing? The drug problem in america is people want to do drugs and the government says no, that's the problem. Do you see the people coming across our borders with beer to smuggle in here? Hell no and if we lightened up on our drug laws and maybe put people into treatment instead of jail, we would stop a lot more drugs from coming in because like beer, it wouldn't be worth smuggling. The smugglers are filling a demand, not creating one.

Yup and Republicans have had no power or authority from 1970 until now.....right?
Again give me a ****ing break!

The opioid crisis is linked to overprescribing of legal drugs that goes back for years. A wall won't change that history, alter physician prescribing patterns, or treat those addicted today.

Shame on you.

You don't have to explain yourself to me. Your comments tell me all I need to know, which isn't much because I don't care about you.

Now that hurts. Does this mean we're breaking up? Did you ever care about me, even a little bit? Oh the emotional devastation, I'm crushed.

Right. It was declared under an executive order but then a 9th Circuit judge said it couldn't be repealed with an EO and had to go through congress. Since the judiciary is no longer going to allow Democrats and Republicans in the Executive the same authority Trump had to find another way.

Other way around...heroin is the organic opiod...much more expensive to process...= why all the synthetic opiods.

DILAUDID is the closest thing to synthetic heroin.

Trust me.

Shame on me my ass. You are not paying attention of what is going on with massive quanities of heroin and fentanyl for the cheap where the pushers are targeting our young. Shame on you.

Push your wall agenda without pretending it has any bearing on the opioid crisis. Better yet, forget the stupid wall or fence or whatever it is and put that money toward providing the health care those people need.
