Trump just killed the emergency act move

The whole point of declaring a national emergency is to what? Yep...get it done quickly.

He tried going the Congress route and they insisted on dicking around and wasting time. Trump decided that enough time is wasted. He'll just go ahead and deal with the emergency.

LOL! Historically and civically illiterate comedy GOLD!

See, the problem with that reasoning is that it means the President can do whatever he or she wants and ignore Congress. Gun deaths are up? National emergency to confiscate guns or limit gun sales. Climate change? National emergency to impose stricter environmental regulations. Why not use emergency powers to shut down the Internet to silence political opposition under some made up emergency?

For all the talk about Venezuela's socialist dictatorships etc. conservatives can't seem to see how that time of power grab actually comes into being. If conservatives weren't so short-sighted, they'd see how their support of Trump's actions now pave the way for the same authority to be used towards different policy goals.

Thats not entirely accurate. Actually, its not even correct at all....the whole point of declaring the emergency had nothing to do with speed, and everything to do with the fact that the President is such a ****ty negotiator that he couldn't convince even his own party to get funding for the wall through proper channels.

Hooray for bypassing the Constitution, right?

Again, this plays right into what I have been saying for months now......he doesn't actually care if the wall ever gets built. He now appears like he is fighting for it, and that is all that matter to the vast majority of his idiot supporters. This will get tied up in court until the next administration that isn't Trump pulls the plug on this whole debacle. The greatest part is gonna be if he gets primaried and a new Republican president is the one who does it.

They won't be endless, though they will be an annoyance.

There was a 75% chance that an injunction against a national emergency would be upheld. After Trump's little impromptu speech those odds just rose to 100%.

Yeah. About the OP of the thread. It's a piece of nonsense made to sound like a contradiction.

But there was something Trump said that I have to believe has sent "journalists" scurrying to find Barack Obama to ask him if he really told Trump he (Obama)would likely have needed to go to war with North Korea.
I'm pretty certain we're going to be hearing about that one again.

As for the rest of the briefing, it was typical Trump chain of thought rambling where he touches on what he wants to address while he has the captive audience.

And lawyers who already planned on filing an injunction against a national emergency made for a very, very happy audience.

sigh...

Guns again.

I keep asking people to tell me...and nobody has yet...what laws that are affected by the National Emergencies Act could possibly be used to confiscate guns, limit gun sales or do any of the other things that gun banners want to do? I mean, seriously, do you think the Act is a blank check? Do you think it's martial law?

It's not.

Perhaps you should bone up on exactly WHAT the National Emergencies Act is.

It most certainly isn't a "power grab".

He’ll employ the cash at hand, and when they get their win in the courts, it’s Game over for the Open Borders Left.

Trump should just ignore the courts. When a district judge somewhere in Hawaii says it’s unconstitutional trump should just declare that he doesn’t recognize the jurisdiction of a court not created by the constitution to rule on constitutional issues

I'm thinking you pulled those numbers out of your biased ass.

Whats to twist? He said it wasn't an actual emergency, he just wanted to get it done faster.

Could you be any less intellectually honest?

good. you admit a declared "national emergency" is not actually an emergency

Trump made that same statement...about Obama and war with NK...last year in September. I didn't see anyone scurry to find Obama then. I don't think they will now.

I don't think they want to find out Trump is telling the truth.

our president is a complete idiot.

why in the hell did you guys elect him?

Lol, are you seriously under the impression that 2,000 miles of wall as a federal government project is going to get done "quickly"? Man you guys are delusional. This will take many YEARS.

Just imagine if dems had done this like they were supposed after the Reagan amnesty. Why didn't they?

Just imagine if dems had done this like they were supposed after the Reagan amnesty. Why didn't they?

why were the democrats expected to clean up after reagan's massive amnesty mistake

and why did the republicans, owners of the white house, senate, and house of representatives for the past two years not fix the problem reagan created

do you not know who you are?
if that is the case dial 9-1-1 immediately and explain your problem

To be fair, you do appear to have confused him with another poster named "bullseye."

I dig that you are just looking to hurl fireballs, but maybe, just maybe, you should make sure you are slinging them are the right people.

This is not the Bullseye you are looking for.

I guess in this case, its better to be super wrong than remotely right, right?

The modern GOP ladies and gentlemen. The rule of law means jack and squat tho them.

But they want Obama to say it's not.

Could be.

Maybe this time they'll try to persuade Obama to lie. That probably wouldn't be hard to do.
