Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., has asked Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison to investigate USA Powerlifting over a decision to bar transgender women from competition because testosterone is used in transitioning.

In a letter sent to Ellison in late January, Omar said her request was spurred on by USA Powerlifting’s decision to deny the application of JayCee Cooper, a trans woman, to compete in a Minnesota event.

“I urge you to reconsider this discriminatory, unscientific policy and follow the example of the International Olympic Committee,” Omar wrote. “The myth that trans women have a ‘direct competitive advantage’ is not supported by medical science, and it continues to stoke fear and violence against one of the most at-risk communities in the world.”

I strongly disagree with Rep. Omar. It isn't a myth that trans women have a competitive advantage over women. Omar is just being silly. Let's objectively look at the facts.

A transgender weightlifter from New Zealand has sparked controversy after winning a competition in Australia.

Laurel Hubbard, 39, made her debut as a contender for the Commonwealth Games in the 90kg+ class at the Australian International in Melbourne on Sunday.

Ms Hubbard, who was born Gavin until she transitioned in her mid-30s, blew her rivals out of the water by winning her division by 19kg.

She lifted a combined total of 268kg - 19kg more than Samoa's Iuniarra Sipaia, who claimed the silver medal. Australia's Kaitlyn Fassina came third with 223kg.

These Trans doctors, whatever they are called are the ones being dishonest.

Male and female brains are fundamentally different. That's not a bigoted statement, that's a factual statement. There is a biological difference between men and women. ... I know, facts!

1. Men generally have more bone density than women
2. Men have far better reaction times than women
3. Men generally have better spatial skills and cognitive abilities.

So to assume that a trans woman loses these abilities completely just because she no longer is a man is not true. Certainly, a psychological advantage still exists. So I do not apologize to anyone when I say a trans woman is not the same biologicialy or psychologically to a non-trans woman. What is dishonest is to say is trans women do not have a direct competitive advantage against non-trans women.

Omar is being dishonest. I refuse to believe someone is this stupid.

Well....I'm told women have to be eligible any job men are, even manual labor jobs with high physical requirements, and that they should be paid equally. Which makes me think, oh, that must mean they will be equally productive, right?

In the specific case of powerlifting, allowing former men to compete with women is obviously unfair.

As a former competitive powerlifter I can tell you that there is a vast gulf between men and women in the sport. I was only a run of the mill performer but my lifts, when adjusted for bodyweight, easily outpaced female world champions while not even being remotely competitive with men at the national level.

Starting to take female hormones will undoubtedly make the athlete weaker but it’s not at all clear that it will do so enough to overcome years of being hormonally male. Nor will do anything about other genetic differences like ratio of fast to slow twitch muscle fibers. Number of fast twitch fibers directly correlates to to ability to produce power.

Mostly, Omar is too stupid to even begin to understand the physiological differences, let alone act like she's some expert. Taking hormones to artificially mimic a female does not eradicate sexual dimorphism.

The effect of being male and maturing as a male, on the musculoskeletal system, determines how males' central nervous system develops and interacts with the musculoskeletal system. A lifetime of building neural pathways doesn't cease to affect performance because hormones are artificially manipulated.
 
What I find most regressive about the Left are their views on allowing trans women to benefit and use to their advantage OVER cisgender women, decades of struggling for Title IX and decades of struggling for equality.
Only to be once again, screwed by men.

Female workforces equally productive to male workforces isn't part of the socialism paradigm at play, here, and why businesses would hate it. Equal pay and equal jobs is part of the socialism paradigm.
