Why wont democrats admit the truth

Walls dont work... border patrols work. When Trump gets around to hiring the 15k he promised 2 years ago, then we can talk. He has not even hired 100 yet last I looked.

The wall doesn't work. History shows the walls don't work (e.g. Great Wall of China, Maginot Line, tunnels in Gaza, tunnels at places in US that have a wall etc). The facts are southern border crossings at an all time low. Most people come in legally and overstay visa, or get in other ports. Drugs come through ports of entry and other means, not smuggled across the border. Those are the facts.

There is no problem with illegals. Idiot right wingers have bought the lie that they are the scape goat while they suck the dick of republicans that are giving away all the country's wealth to the ultra rich


Anyway, pretty lame trolling attempt. Dumb right wingers need to realize the truth that brown people aren't the cause of their problems.

Now that you mention this, it never even occurred to me that anyone could take the plain English words I wrote and somehow think that by it, I was arguing that walls work.

But now that I know that Tann's rants about "historical illiteracy" and the "Great Wall" stem from actual illiteracy on his part, I can only laugh, hard.

So, thanks for helping clear that up.

Republicans don' care about actual border security, they have been keeping this an issue for 40 years duping their idiot base, all while they do nothing when in power, and then when dems in power, they block actual border security (like they did in 2013 and refused to vote on 40 billion for border security) or bring up issues they know won't pass dems, then claim dems don't care about border security. Repeat over nad over again, and their idiot base just continues to ignore it.

2 years, did noting on border security. Dems get House, suddenly its a national crisis. They know they can blame dems, their dumb based will eat it up ,and they don't address th problem.

Rigth wingers are hopeless, if they are so dumb they ignore the obvious (and countless examples of the obvious) there is no hope for them.

we should just tell them to **** off, and work on getting more people to vote, because these people are the minority and they only have a voice due to rigging of the system, and voter apathy

I don't believe they are afraid it will work, I think Democrats are just opposed to the idea since it is more a power play. Since the shut down both sides have been using the wall as political clout. It's a wall that republicans said we didn't need when the democrats wanted it and now the democrats say we don't need it when the republicans wan't it.

By itself the wall is not enough to do anything. If we are worried about illegal immigration the best way to start is by revamping the laws involved. If you are worried about border security you need more than a wall.

That's not what Democrats have been saying. Democrats have never been totally opposed to “physical barriers” along the southern border, and have approved border fencing in the past. They've been saying all along that physical barriers are effective when placed in strategic areas along the border. That's why the Secure Fence Act bill of 2006 was signed. This bill authorized and partially funded the construction of 700 miles of physical fence/barriers along the Mexican border. Democrats have also said many times that a physical wall in remote areas will not prevent illegals entering because physical barriers can be scaled or tunnels dug beneath them. The fact remains that the majority of illegals in the U.S. are here because they've have overstayed Visas after having arrived in the U.S. by airplane. It's another fact that's not going to change is that the majority of illegal drugs entering the country arrive on trucks through our legal border crossings. This is why they contend that additional technology and security is needed at border crossings.

the maginot line worked, in the fact that the germans DID NOT want to go through it... so they went around it... it just wasn't long enough. what else?

castle walls worked to help a smaller force defend against a greater army until the invention of gunpowder and large cannons... if the illegal immigrants come up with a way to shoot themselves over it safely, I'll grant you we then might have to come up with a new deterrent.

forts where still important even AFTER the invention of gunpowder until modern mobility came into play.

what else?

Paul Ryan bragged about a school secretary who was taking home an extra buck-fifty a week.
This is technically a tax cut for that person, assuming withholdings were correctly adjusted.

A good chunk of people saw their taxes go up, and most of them are in the lower income range. Twitter is filled with Trump voters who just filed their taxes and realize they're paying more.

Them going around it means it didn't work. Just like the illegals can go around it, under it, etc. Considering the majority of illegals don't get in across the southern border shows that a wall won't work. because the people are already going around the area where there would be a wall

I'd have like to see the Germans try to fit a panzer under the wall... but anyway back to the point...

people CAN find ways around ANY deterrent eventually or with technology. people HAVE to find ways around them because they work.

they are a major deterrent , not an absolute blockage... nothing is.

coupled with technology to see and apprehend people trying to go over and under the walls, they will be a great deterrent to large swaths of illegal immigrants.

ok i will concede that if the illegal aliens come in with a battalion sized force with modern heavy guns, tanks and explosives, or an air force the walls might have a problem.

honestly, if they are well built, they are still good cover against shrapnel and bullets even in a modern firefight, so they work that way.

but ok no... modern missiles, artillery, tanks and explosives will be able to circumvent part of a wall fairly easily.

we're not exactly trying to use them against THAT though are we?

I am pro-immigration AND I know that a wall won't work. Both of those are legitimate reasons to oppose it.

Lots of people who want to restrict immigration and/or deal more severely with undocumented immigration know that border walls won't work. They even know that the number of crossings on the southern border have dropped since 2000, they know that undocumented immigrants are now mostly flying into the US and overstaying their visas.

If you're going to spend on border security, you should at least want something that actually addresses the problem.
