THE SIMPSONS TV show gets credit for predicting some thing that did not happen until many years later. Trump as President was one of those things they got right.

17 times 'The Simpsons' accurately predicted the future - Business Insider

And another show TRACKDOWN from 1958 - hows a con man named Trump who came to a western town to get the citizens to contribute their money to build a wall to protect them. Trump claims only he can protect them from a force which will soon overwhelm their town and invade them.

I cannot help to think back to a TV show I saw in early 1963 which showed a young American Nazi failing miserably until he got some sage advice from a much older veteran who had lots of experience at whipping up hatred in the crowd and turning it into political power. When Adolf Hitler emerged from the dark shadows of an alley, I remember being genuinely shocked as a child.

The show was THE TWILIGHT ZONE and the episode was titled "He's Alive" and was written by Rod Serling. At the conclusion of the show, as was normal, Serling closes with the message of the show

Where will he go next, this phantom from another time, this resurrected ghost of a previous nightmare – Chicago? Los Angeles? Miami, Florida? Vincennes, Indiana? Syracuse, New York? Anyplace, everyplace, where there's hate, where there's prejudice, where there's bigotry. He's alive. He's alive so long as these evils exist. Remember that when he comes to your town. Remember it when you hear his voice speaking out through others. Remember it when you hear a name called, a minority attacked, any blind, unreasoning assault on a people or any human being. He's alive because through these things we keep him alive.

Interesting that the last city he mentioned was New York.

Tonight he will be in El Paso.

Yawwwnnn….say the people who unquestioningly support the RACISM/EUGENICS of Margaret Sanger, Josef Mangele's philosophical predecessor...as carried out by her "baby" (pun intended) , Planned Parenthood.

A very young Dennis Hopper!

I did a thread about that Twilight Zone episode ...

Trump's wall is about giving people an enemy to hate

There's also an episode of an old western called Trackdown from the 1950's. In the episode a con man named Trump tries to convince a small town that he can build a wall to protect them from a fictional enemy.

...And Janet Reno was mistaken for Big Foot, Godzilla, and Jobba the Hut. Bernie Sanders is mistaken for a Jewish Billy Mays hawking Mighty Putty, and AOC has been mistaken for Lucille Ball in the candy factory. Amy Klobuchar plays a dominatrix at her office. Coming soon! See Louis Farrakhan play Uncle Remus! You'll never forget it. (Sorry).

Exactly. He was very good in that role. Interesting that Serling filmed much more of that episode and wanted to release it as a film to theaters but they could not the money necessary to cover the production costs to do that. That extra footage that was shot was apparently never processed and has been lost.

I had not previously seen your ZONE thread. Thanks for the link.

The TRACKDOWN episode is a great one . Its like the writers and a time machine and wrote about Trump and his con man act for a wall sixty years before it really happened.

People so darn desperate to bash President Trump?
Just look at the rubbish posted to try to achieve that demented goal.
And the best.... it's posted in the General Political Discussion?

TWILIGHT ZONE predicted Trump

FWIW, Richard Rorty predicted the political, cultural dernier cri, if you will, into which Trump (his marketing message) rhetorically tapped.

[M]embers of labor unions, and unorganized unskilled workers, will sooner or later realize that their government is not even trying to prevent wages from sinking or to prevent jobs from being exported. Around the same time, they will realize that suburban white-collar workers -- themselves desperately afraid of being downsized -- are not going to let themselves be taxed to provide social benefits for anyone else.

At that point, something will crack. The nonsuburban electorate will decide that the system has failed and start looking around for a strongman to vote for -- someone willing to assure them that, once he is elected, the smug bureaucrats, tricky lawyers, overpaid bond salesmen, and postmodernist professors will no longer be calling the shots.

[...]

One thing that is very likely to happen is that the gains made in the past 40 years by black and brown Americans, and byhomosexuals, will be wiped out. Jocular contempt for women will come back into fashion. […] All the resentment which badly educated Americans feel about having their manners dictated to them by college graduates will find an outlet.
-- Richard Rorty, Achieving Our Country: Leftist Thought in Twentieth-Century America, 1997

The trouble, of course, is that Trump's rhetoric is just that, all hat and no cattle.

I think it's more than a coincidence.
