El Paso bristles at Trump'''s claim that wall made city safe

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — People walking over the Paso del Norte Bridge linking this West Texas border city to Mexico can watch President Donald Trump’s border wall getting bigger in real time.

Workers in fluorescent smocks can be seen digging trenches, pouring concrete and erecting rust-colored slabs of 18-foot-high metal to replace layers of barbed wire-topped fencing along the mud-colored Rio Grande, which is usually little more than a trickle.
===============================================
People walking across the bridge between El Paso & Mexico point at the mess and say 'Trump.'

'Trump said barriers turned El Paso from one of the nation’s most dangerous cities to one of its safest, but that’s not true. El Paso, population around 800,000, had a murder rate less than half the national average in 2005, a year before the most recent expansion of its border fence.' Trump is lying about the effect the wall has had on violent crime in El Paso & most in the area see right through his desperate bid to fulfill his major campaign promise to build a wall that Mexico would pay for. That's not going to happen either.

The Wall is going up and there's not a thing you liberals can do about it but pull your hair out and sob uncontrollably.

I'm sure liberals can come up with a new scheme to get more party voters. Perhaps your 'free stuff' campaign.

Trump will inspire many academic research projects as professionals try to piece together how he configured and maintained his elaborate fantasy world in spite of access to vast information reserves and many teams trying to help him correct his garbled recollection of facts.

Source: FACT CHECK: Was El Paso One of the 'Most Dangerous Cities' in U.S. Before a Border Fence Was Built?

Note that the El Paso section of the fence was built 2008-2009.

Yup.. they are at the hair on fire running through glass doors stage now. They actually argue that walls don't work?
Never mind that the democrats have time after time voted for funding physical barriers.

According to Donnie Moscow, the wall has already been built and Mexico's going to pay for it.

So what happened?

Ask the men and women on our front line protecting the border!

Border Patrol Makes Its Case For An Expanded 'Border Barrier'
Border Patrol Makes Its Case For An Expanded 'Border Barrier' : NPR

Senior Border Patrol officials are taking up President Trump's call for more miles of border barrier, pushing back against congressional Democrats who say additional fencing is unnecessary.

During a ride-along with the Border Patrol on Wednesday in its San Diego sector, agents made it clear that the fence deters illegal crossers.

"I started in the San Diego sector in 1992 and it didn't matter how many agents we lined up," said Chief Patrol Agent Rodney Scott. "We could not make a measurable impact on the flow [of undocumented immigrants] across the border. It wasn't until we installed barriers along the border that gave us the upper hand that we started to get control."

Trump is piling new materials onto old sections of barriers and there might not be a lot we can do about that, though Nogales is trying. But new wall? Yeah, maybe if he's willing to pay through the nose with concessions far righters won't like. So far it's not looking good.

It turns out Trump is an interdimensional space traveller. Some of his statements were given in a dimension where he was actually able to make a deal with his GOP legislature and was able to start building new wall. Some of his statements were given in dimensions we haven't yet identified because they don't make sense in any world that we can comprehend, but that's just because of our limitations. If we knew what Trump knew about those other dimensions we would see his statements were completely true.

A dog works just as well.

Booby traps.

Enforcement of laws against employing illegals.

The Great Wall also fell. So it worked for a while, until it didn't.

Human ingenuity outpaces law enforcement implementation.

By the time you finished a wall alternative methods would be employed.

This is "security theater". Look it up. Like the TSA, holding everybody up, failing to catch testers almost always.

When trump says "wall" you get a shot of happy juice. Which is why he says it.

Crime in El Paso has dropped 20%+ since the wall. Bullets from across the border used to strike buildings and homes in El Paso REGULARLY.

Not now.

Makeup some more bull****.

No it is not. And your authoritarian days are numbered. Your minority will not rule for much longer. It is nothing but an abberation so stop fooling yourself.

They'd rather GO BACK to BULLETS FLYING ACROSS THE BORDER from JUAREZ, REGULARLY, while LYING ABOUT THE CRIME DROP SINCE THE BARRIER WENT UP ?

This town is proof that Trump’s wall can work

Before 2010, federal data show the border city was mired in violent crime and drug smuggling, thanks in large part to illicit activities spilling over from the Mexican side. Once the fence went up, however, things changed almost overnight. El Paso since then has consistently topped rankings for cities of 500,000 residents or more with low crime rates, based on FBI-collected statistics. The turnaround even caught the attention of former Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and other Obama administration officials, who touted it as one of the nation’s safest cities while citing the beefed-up border security there.

Federal data illustrates just how remarkable the turnaround in crime has been since the fence was built. According to FBI tables, property crimes in El Paso have plunged more than 37 percent to 12,357 from their pre-fence peak of 19,702 a year, while violent crimes have dropped more than 6 percent to 2,682 from a peak of 2,861 a year. The overall crime rate in El Paso continued to fall last year, prompting city leaders to trumpet the good news in a press release that noted, “Because El Paso is a border town, its low crime rate may surprise you.”

You're a great Trump supporter. Trump lies and claims that crime dropped dramatically after a wall was erected in El Paso and you're right there to support him with alternative facts.

The problem is your alternative facts only work on other Trump supporters. The rest of us know that a lie is a lie. Crime did not dramatically drop after a wall was erected in El Paso. It's not true and no amount of alternative facts will make it true.
