I don't know what to make of this but I did take note of a former editor I think is was saying that the current editor is likely headed for jail over this....for sure over the line of legal and acceptable he says.

It has been argued by some that the legal defense of David Pecker is based on Bartnicki vs. Vopper.
I confess that I never got completely to the end of the Bartnicki decision, it's a War and Peace length legal opinion but I kept noticing that much of it centers on information which is arguably of "public importance" and that a media publisher is held safe from liability for distributing such material even if it was acquired illegally, but again...the terms relating to "public importance" appear almost a hundred times in the Bartnicki decision.
