ludin,
This has to be the best definition of tolerance and intolerance i have read in recent history.
+3 points my friend.
So...if i got what you are saying.
Tolerance is accepting others do not think the way you do, but you let them go on about their way.
Intolerance is not accepting others think differently,.....getting offended by it, ......then demonizing them for daring to think differently than you.
This is how i understood what you said. Am I right?
Intolerance is a bit harder to define. I am intolerant of different things.
Rape, murder, drug use etc ...
there are things/behaviors that i have hard lines set on.
again all people are intolerant of certain behaviors if not we would have a pretty uncivilized society.
where intolerance is an issue is what you just described.
when not only can you not see the other persons point of view but then
verbally (sometimes people physically) assault and demonize someone over it.
that is where you can no longer consider yourself tolerant. you are in fact the opposite.
unfortuantly that is where we are at as a society.
civil discourse went out the window a long time ago. the extremist were let out of the cages and changed the narrative.
no longer is it acceptable to disagree and have a beer. now the person either agree's with you and if not then you
launch an all out tirade, appeal to emotion and ad hominem attack against the person and berate them into submission.
if that doesn't work then you post it on social media and just go all out to drum up enough faux outrage.
welcome to the new dark ages.
no longer is reason allowed into a discussion.
it is who can drum up the biggest appeal to emotion fallacy.
