Trump expected to offer deal for ending the shutdown, Democrats expected to reject it

You are part of the left wing loon Resistance so of course you think that. But step outside of your bubble and imagine how normal thinking Americans view what is going on. One side is working to solve the problems at the border and end the shutdown through a compromise with the other party. Meanwhile, the other party is just obstructing and rejecting his offer before they even hear it. The left wing loon base loves that approach, but the overwhelming majority of Americans are not part of the left wing loon base.

$5.7 billion for the wall is the sticking point.

Trump essentially said "I'll give you a little bit of what you want if you give me 100% of what I want."

Why wouldn't the Dems go for that?

Sixty-one percent of loons, by which I mean Americans, want border security without a wall. How is demanding a wall, which numerous polls show that Americans don't want, "working to solve the problems at the border?"

So is what is going on here that somebody has told Donald that Americans are so oblivious that they don't know that the broad outlines offered by Trump today is not more than:
- either what has been offered by the Trump Administration across the negotiating table already and rejected under terms of shutdown coercion
- and/or a temporary redress of a Trump EO
- or something that will be very difficult to enable, such as giving minors the opportunity to apply for asylum in their own countries when in fact the US has been closing off those opportunities for EVERYBODY in those countries

So is the game here that Trump and his boys think everybody is so stupid and out of touch that a Saturday 4:00PM drone from the WH would clue them in to something they don't already know? That is the only rational I have for the GOP talking head crews out trying to make the case that the "ball is back in the Dems court now" because there is really nothing here other than maybe the minors asylum offer that has not been on the table already. So how is the ball back in the Dems court? Based on What I would ask?

When are you going to call for more mileage of border barrier after the 230 miles DonDon? Need to go through a Congressional Appropriations process.

Barrier is now see through fence instead of Wall but that is only Donald finally listening to his own CBP telling him that ALL physical barrier no matter how much of it you build should be something they can see through to the other side.

The Democrats have a winning position, and Trump has no leverage. Trump is also getting the blame, according to the majority of Americans who also do not want a wall.

I like seeing Trump pursue this failed battle. It is iconic of his presidency.

Intransigent? Trump is solely responsible for the hardship being unnecessarily imposed on 800,000 federal employees and their families, all because he’s demanding something the majority of Americans are against.

It’s been nearly a month now and the polls aren’t looking any better for him. No logical reason to expect that to change.

Trump should stop acting like the spoiled rotten septuagenarian that he is, scrap his current worthless offer, and reopen the government. Then negotiations for appropriate border protection measures can be had.

Right wing loons are always the target. He has rarely made a speech that was not directed solely at right wing loons.

You cant have border security without a wall. Any one who thinks you can is a loon. There are hundreds of miles of border wall there already, yet I dont here any of the border walls are immoral and dont work crowd calling for them to be taken down. How come? Stenny Hoyer and Chris Coons both said within the last few days that walls work--not everywhere, but in certain places.

Neither one of you know what the hell you are talking about. While Trump does spend too much time preaching to the choir, this was not an example of that, Here he was trying to reach a wider audience. How successful it will be remains to be seen, but that was obviously the goal.

It is a nonsense statement.

There are numerous ways to have border security without a wall.
