Why can’t Trump make deals? No one trusts him anymore

The great dealmaker indeed.

Donald Trump is between a rock and a hard place ..... the steadfast Robert Mueller Russia-collusion investigation and the paralyzing government shutdown Trump said he would proudly own.

McConnel is bringing it up to vote. Will the democrats vote for the deal they agreed with before and reopen government with the president's compromise? Or will they play politics and keep it shut down? We'll see.

That is Nancy's job. She won't do it.

Really...it's Nancy's job to come up with border control that works. So, she decides a wall doesn't work, and Trump storms out of talks and shuts the government down.

Even your rebuttals implicate Trump as being solely responsible for this mess. Once again I find myself feeling sorry for ya, Mycroft. You picked a tough row to hoe.

The CR's Pelosi is passing are McConnells CR's, not something she came up with on her own. These Republican CR's that the Republicans in the Senate voted 97-3 on, but are now refusing to even give a vote on, in order to avoid being on record refusing to fund the government, while also not having to cave.

They are the ones playing politics.

Actually, they are the ones playing hostage games to get what they otherwise couldn't get if the government was simply opened.

~snipped the nonsense~

Yes. It's Nancy's job to pass legislation that works for the US. If she decides the wall won't work, then it's up to her to come up with something that does work. She's not doing that.

Sorry, how's she supposed to do that with Trump bawling about keeping the government closed until he gets his wall? This is one of those rare times that I'm actually listening to you with an open mind. Explain it so it makes sense, and isn't soaked with Trump-Aid, and you might even get some props. You get one shot to make me hate Nancy...go!

Well, let's see if she will have the guts to pass McConnell's deal here then! should be no problem, since she likes to work with him :)

By negotiating.

So...wouldn't Trump need to be in the room, and willing to negotiate, in order for that to work?

This goes back to what I asked earlier: is this about border control or is this about the wall?

If this is about border control, then talks can continue, without a government shut down, without the wall. Trump needs to put on his big boy pants, and get back to the table, acknowledging that they can discuss things other than his silly wall.

If this is only about the wall, then of course Donny and Nancy have nothing to discuss...and God bless her for blocking a knuckle-headed move that would cost you guys billions, and not fix the problem.

By negotiating.

How many House bills to reopen the government have been sent to the Senate now? Six since I last checked. Your conservative talking point that tries to pin the shutdown on Schumer and Pelosi is refuted by the facts.

Not at all.

Heck, she doesn't even need to negotiate with Trump. She can make a deal with the Reps, pass a bill and send it to Trump.

Then, perhaps Chuck and Nancy should just negotiate with the Congressional Republicans...pass a bill...and send it to Trump.

Thing is...Chuck and Nancy are making no effort to make a deal with anyone.

It was never in the sand. That's why I'm one of the smart Republicans who didn't vote for Trump.

There is no crisis at the border.
I have yet to hear a single viewpoint from you that indicates your a Republican.

I have yet to see you make a post that's written in proper English, like the adults do.

I've been a Republican since 1980. Not since 2015, like your crush Trump. If you missed all my posts between 2012 and when the party left to support him, and all my posts supporting the Republicans since he took office (while you and the other Trump lovers were attacking the Republicans), then that's on you.

Trump does love the uneducated.

There is no permanent DACA fix and path to citizenship so no this is not a deal they EVER would agree to. There will be no wall money as long as the Govt. is shut regardless. The bill will not get 60 votes and the only reason Republicans will probably all vote for it is because they know it is going nowhere. Most Republicans do not want the wall either.

Nothing to do with your feelings about Trump. I have not read a single post from you that resembles a Republican opinion.

Now you're just being silly. The government is shut down, remember? And Trump won't reopen it unless he gets his wall, and that's a non starter, apparently. Now, you're gonna say, welp, they should give him the wall, that's negotiation. But not really...border control can still be established without a multi BILLION dollar wall that can, again:

a) be dug under
b) be flown over
c) be sailed around on two sides
d) can be passed through perfectly legally for any number of reasons, and never returned through

It. Is. Dumb.

Now, can your boy finally admit that, get the government working again, and be part of an actual solution, or is he going to let the country go to hell because he's pouting about not getting his big ol wall? Guess we'll see...but make no mistake, it's your boy who's wearing this in the eyes of anyone but the faithful. What a gong show.

You missed a spot

e) can and has been torn through countless times; even the fancy prototype walls Trump is picking between can be breached with household power tools

Then maybe you should pay attention. That's probably asking too much though. You're a Trump Fan and as such, you can't think clearly.

That's what sending a bill to the Republican controlled Senate is. Democrats have sent six offers. Republicans throw those offers into the trash and then try to blame the shutdown on Democrats.
