I don't think that Trump cares what happens in a shutdown as long as he wins and does not get any kick back from Coulter, Fox News and Limbaugh. The Dems feel they have a strong hand as the longer this goes on more people believe that Trump is at fault, even if they somewhat blame the Dems. So how does this end. Well, it could end shortly if McConnell did his job and allowed a vote on the bills sent to him from the House that had already had approval from a past Senate vote. So Mitch McConnell is the one who can end the shutdown tomorrow, but he won't. He continues as when Obama was president to just say NO.

It looks to me that he is working to build the required credibility between the two parties to be the dealmaker.

I just read that some democrats in the house are starting to break, due to their constituents wanting the wall.

I think McConnell would be better off to just allow the vote. I think it would pass both houses and then be sent to the president's desk, which would force Trump to either veto it, sign it or leave it on his desk until it becomes law. Two out of the three of those choices would hurt Trump with either his base, the dems and independents that voted for him in 2016. Leaving it on his desk would end the shutdown and give him the out he needs to say that the Congress forced him into a bad deal.

Pelosi could end the shutdown tomorrow, but she would rather spend a billion dollars a day not having a border barrier to prove her loyalty is to non-citizens trying to come into the USA than to Americans.

Trump cannot end the shutdown he said he would cause and take credit for, and then caused ad denied credit for.

Clearly.

Where did you read that?

So long as a majority of Americans blame Trump for the shutdown, the Democrats won't budge.

I'm having trouble posting the links but it is in both my Google and Yahoo news feeds and from sources with both biases. The number is currently small 8 or so depending on source.

Too few to help Donald, esp. in light of the public's stubborn insistence on blaming him for this dumpster fire.

Katie Hill is one of them and you can see her rational.... It's quite respectable actually, wish more politicians were like her.... from California no less, integrity

McConnell is afraid of the voters like most everyone else, and he is trying to keep the Senate R controlled next Congress because in his mind the D's have a decent shot of having both the POTUS Chair and the House, this is important. Mitch is thus desperate that there be few or no votes from Senators up for elect which piss off the voters by screwing Trump and his votors. .

:2rofll: Good one! :2rofll:

Where ... Britebart?

No need to wonder if the Turtle Head will step up and do what’s best for our country ... he won’t.

Pelosi and probably ninety five percent of democrats never agreed to pay for the wall trump promised everyone mexico was paying for. Get angry at him for not keeping his campaign promise, or get mad at mexico for not paying. However to assume the dems want to pay for it is just outrageous.

No he can't end it. His job is to allow a vote by the senate and pass that vote along to the president if it passes both houses. That's mitch's job. It's president trump's shutdown, he said so himself for those who don't remember.

Where did you read that? Do you mind sharing the link, because I have yet to read that. Thanks!

Now didn't you REALLY mean?

I just fantasized that I read that some democrats in the house are starting to break, due to their constituents wanting the wall.

Because you didn't read that anywhere credible.

at least we now know what a Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh presidency would look like.

A LOT of Democrats are willing to support more border walls, just not under threat by hostage takers who shut down the government. That fat orange man baby has destroyed any credibility he might have had at this point, not just on border security, but on anything.

Simply put, I do not trust Trump to build anything, or keep any promise, no matter what it is. The only promise I trust him to keep is to keep taking hostages, more and more, bigger and more expensive, and for his own personal gain.

We may very well see Democratic leaders move to support some form of enhanced and better funded border security, but get one thing straight, if you never get anything else straight for the rest of this term:

It will not happen under threat of a government shutdown, not now, not ever.

I read that McConnel poll numbers are really low in Kentucky. I think he could win easily if he became the man who ended this mess and he could still say they would fight for the wall in upcoming negotiations. He might lose a few trumpsters, but would win over a lot more discontented Dems and independents. Just my thoughts/.
