The problem is: spending billions on a border wall will not slow illegal immigration. Spending billions on more Customs and Border Patrol agents and repairing existing fencing will. The issue here is not that democrats like illegal immigration, it's that Trump's plan to curb it is ineffective.

Show me reputable sources verifying that spending $5b on a small section of Trump's wall is a cost effective strategy to limit illegal immigration and drug smuggling.

If you can produce the reputable sources showing this, it's a compelling argument. If you can't, you're letting yourself get flimflammed by a known conman, and what that says about you.

Trump and/or Bannon recognized that being blatantly racist was going to get him a lot of die hard support in the USA. They were correct, Trump's numbers never drop below %30 or so no matter what. They even watched an American POTUS stand united with Putin against the entire American Intelligence community, and supported and defended this behavior.

It's obviously a "winning" strategy for Trump, and he's still using it:

Just some helpful advice.....Learn how to debate and refute the facts put in front of you. The onus is on you to prove the O/P is wrong.

You probably need to read all my thread posts where plenty of evidence makes this a compelling argument instead of running your mouth.

When you are ready to refute each and every one of my posts that presents real evidence that lay out valid reasons for not needing a wall/fence at the southern borders, be sure and get back in touch.

Supporting evidence with a link and drops in crime stats in El Paso has already been posted. The ball is currently in your court if you want to provide contrary evidence or evidence to support your argument.

I know for a fact the number of illegals in jail could double overnight if we did not have to let one out every time we put one in. Our jails are over crowded with criminals to the point where the police have to decide if it is even worth arresting them. Plus it is disheartening when you inform the federal government that you have a convicted illegal coming up on the end of their sentence and our government tells you to put back on the streets to commit even more crimes.

A few points:

Some estimates put the number of undocumented already here at 13 million. Its too late to build a wall to keep them out. Exactly how much wall do we propose building and where? A lot of the border area is wild, remote, and mountainous. Are we going to guard all of the border? What happens if the wall is funded to last 25 years and the economy's and governments South of the border become stable and immigration slows to a trickle? If there is stabilization we can't use the wall for a tourist attraction or anything else. Does anyone care about the environmental impact or land owners whose property will be impacted?

We know drugs, contraband, and human trafficking is coming in through entry points in vehicles, in planes, or boats. Seldom if ever over a wall. We have stepped up screening but there isn't enough man power to screen everything.

Terrorists are not undocumented. If they come into the country they come through legal means. Not over the border illegally. They don't want to risk being caught so they come legally.

Infrastructure (facilities) and processing and adjudication at the border is already over whelmed. A wall isn't going to change that. So we spend billions upgrading facilities. Then what if things South of the border stabilize?

I question how effective a continuous wall is. Is all of it going to be guarded? We don't stop everything illegal coming in through entry points in vehicles. How do we expect to stop every thing with a wall? I don't think you can guard a nearly 2000 mile border. Walls can be tunneled under. Flown over. Navigated around. If there is a will humans can find a way to get over a wall.

Appropriate money for border security possibly a few expanded facilities and staff the man power and adjudication needs. Not a wall. It is not an effective way to stop illegal anything.

No American President before Trump has made it a National priority to wall up the Southern border. He will go down as a colossal mistake. I don't think the majority of voting Americans want to get behind a mistake. Spend money on the military, on education, on health care, invest it in America's people but don't spend it on a wall.

Almost nothing in the real world is conclusive. All we can do is offer evidence. I have offered some. You have offered none. You are welcome to come to the conversation anytime you chose. You can of course continue to sit at the table of saying nothing for as long as you like.
