Democrats head to broad way show during the Shutdown....

Don't get me started on him either...But what he is doing is NO excuse for the Democrats vacationing in Puerto Rico.

A) The Democrats are not vacationing.

B) Even if they were, tourism is Puerto Rico's largest business, so some support of that is not a bad thing considering all that has occurred there in these past months.

C) If Congress members were to visit sites of Tornado devastation, or Hurricane damage, or Forest Fire destruction would you consider that a vacation?

D) Where is McConnell? He was the first one out of town last week.

This has nothing to do with the O/P's alleged dishonesty or Breitbart's assholes. Red herring.

It has to do with unethical behavior and bad optics being demonstrated by the congressional Democrats.
30 Democrats in Puerto Rico with 109 lobbyists for weekend despite shutdown

You are unaware that the Senate has been presented with bills, and has been adjourned? McConnell went home. No action will be taken. It is good to know Congress Members should not meet with lobbyists. You need to inform the GOP of this new development.

Trump cancelled his Christmas and New Year plans. He cancelled his upcoming trip to Switzerland.

Trump cancelled pay checks for government workers also. Which should I cry about more? I think I choose the government workers.

They left the mainland in the dead of winter, to visit the beautiful sunny warm beaches of Puerto Rico, but nice attempt at tossing in the old red herring.

Trix, you stated that dems would be upset if Trump left the country. There was no red herring here, just a simple factual response to your statement. They also went for a weekend, long after Mitch McConnell had adjourned the Senate.

 I'll give you a D for your intellectual dishonesty but a B- for your mediocre efforts.

You are in no position to grade her until you can get your own grades in passing territory.

Trump's Plan B for the use of recovery funds is definitely a good topic to explore.

What part are you having trouble understanding? McConnell is not going to waste time with votes on things Trump has no intention of signing into law. In the meantime the Senate needs to use its time on the backlog of confirmations the Democrats have been slow walking for months. Their resistance bull **** is getting old. It's time they do their damn jobs.

Perhaps McConnell should stop playing toady to the POTUS, and run his Senate. Perhaps it might be instructive to the POTUS to note how many Senators support the bill sent to them to reopen the different departments of government that have been shut down due to a temper tantrum.

Perhaps McConnell is doing what he is suppose to do in running the Senate. Quite frankly if the president will not sign the bills what is the sense in continuing with vanity votes that mean nothing. The Democrats have a backlog of votes pending in the Senate due to their blatant resistance movement when it comes to anything pertaining to this president. It's high time they put their big boy and big girl pants on and start fulfilling their job description.

Greetings, trixare4kids. :2wave:

With the devastation that Puerto Rico suffered during the 2017 hurricane, does anyone know how many hotel rooms were needed by Nancy Pelosi and others who traveled to Puerto Rico this past week, and were rooms available for rent? It doesn't seem logical to expect first class service from a population who are doubtless still cleaning up the mess caused by a hurricane, but I'm sure they're doing the best they can while hoping that we will lend them money to get them on their feet again.

Don't forget the economic stimulus this gives the island. I guess you guys mostly would only care about that if it was a red state.

Where is it outlined that McConnell should refuse votes on legislation passed along from the House? It is amusing that holding a vote on opening government agencies is "a vanity vote", yet countless votes on repealing Obamacare were considered patriotic. I think you should find a pair of big boy pants for McConnell. He seems to be very very scared of the President.

That's pretty much exactly the post I wanted to make.

But then I said "meh". Because what's the point in posting to someone who thinks a vote to fund the government is a vanity vote?

You do realize that Puerto Rico is a territory of the US and Puerto Ricans are citizens of the US? They pay some federal taxes, and also pay Social Security and Medicare taxes.
You do realize that tourism is their major business, and if people want to pay to use their hotel rooms that is a very good thing in their road to economic recovery? You do realize that if we choose to not help "clean up the mess" all the inhabitants of Puerto Rico can move here whenever they choose to? The tone of your post indicates you are not aware of those facts.

News Flash beep beep beep.

Republicans control the Senate, McConnell is head honcho. What he wants to bring to the floor is what will be voted on. Get use to it, San Fran Nan can push all the votes she wants to in the House but that doesn't mean squat because Republicans control the Senate.

You make a good point. ;)

Puerto rico is a party town. I guess they need to go to cancun to do some research as well?

Give me a break!

You think Puerto Rico is a town? Interesting.

So there you admit it! Senator McConnell can do whatever he wants, and whatever foot stamping POTUS tells him, because voters like you think being a jackass is similar to being a good legislator...or president.

Amelia thinks to watch a Broadway play consists of a meeting. I would love for her to be my CFO. She would probably also write off massages as business meetings as well. I go to a lot of those massage parlors at night for "meetings."

The House Democrats don't want their bill signed.

It's nice of you to credit the Democrats with the bill that was voted on. The fact is it was crafted by the Republicans when they controlled the House. It passed that time too. The new Majority party merely put the same bill up for a vote.

You have a Republican bill that was passed in both houses, that Trump had agreed to sign. Trump changed his mind because Rush, with his ratings in mind, spoke against it. So now we sit with the Government shut down because Trump can't trust his own judgement and bows to the judgement of Limbaugh and his ilk.

But trump is allowed to throw tantrums and if he changes his story, obviously that's a fact adjustment, therefore you MUST adjust your facts to align with Trump's. Trump is an honest patriot!

Again you show yourself to be quite a piece of work.
I simply laid out to you that the Democrats do not have control of the Senate. Why are you having such a problem with that? Why should they push San Fran Nan's agenda when they don't have to? Is this too hard for you to comprehend? Evidently. But get use to it. No matter what San Fran Nan pushes in the House, she isn't going to be met with open arms in the Senate.

Oh and as far as funding border security? A Republican came up with a wonderful idea. Cruz has reintroduced the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order Act, or EL CHAPO Act, to Congress.
The bill would designate any money and assets seized from notorious gangster Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and allocate them for the construction of the border wall. El Chapo was extradited to the U.S. in 2017 to face charges related to running one of the most notorious drug cartels in the world.
His net worth at the time of arrest was $14 billion. Trump is only asking for over 5 billion. Sounds good to me. In the end a piece of **** Mexican who poured billions of drugs into this country using every person along the way destroying lives will end up paying for the wall and more while the asshole rots in prison. Now that's a win win !!!!
