I, for one, wont believe that dems really care until they start wearing ribbons in support of Puerto Rico at glitzy Hollywood events.

I didn’t. He has said he wants to declare an emergency. If he does, this is where the funding is going to come from because he doesn’t have another source of sufficient size. Don’t get mad at me just because you don’t have all the facts.

Not at all. The problem is that the very premise of the question inherently assumes what I wrote is factual, which means that what YOU wrote is false. “Democrats don’t want to vote on it” is false, because it’s Mitch McConnel who is actually blocking the vote in the Senate.

What I am doing is completing the previous line of conversation before allowing you to divert us to a different one.

Which they will no doubt credit with saving the disaster funds for Puerto Rico that were never actually threatened.

They know what the parameters of a deal are.

They are showboating. They are doing so to fool the weak minded.

The problem is, they think that Trump is a normal politician in spite of everything they have seen to counter that conclusion. What have they been watching?

Imagine that! Politicians arrive at a conclusion that is not logical to solve a problem. Any problem. Re-election is all they care about. Problem solving is ignored and a by product only.

Trump, on the other hand, simply states the problems and that he has a solution. No politics. No hidden agenda. Here's the problem. Here's the solution.

He can wait until Hell freezes over and he should. I see no reason to oppose a solution to the death toll of the drugs, the ruined lives of the addicted, the human trafficking, the illegal border crossing, the humanitarian crisis and the possible solution for the dreamers that could be negotiated in as well.

MR. PRESIDENT, KEEP GOING!. There has never been a greater need for a man of integrity who is not driven only by getting re-elected. Trump is that man.

Do you want to spend a hundred trillion on a border wall? Make it five hundred feet tall. Laser turrets. The works.

No? That seems excessive? Not cost-effective? Congratulations, you have arrived at the conclusion that it’s possible to have wasteful spending in border security. You should run with that.

So in other words you don't want to answer the question because we all know the answer. Democrats passed legislation they knew would be D.O.A. in the Senate. They haven't done anything in earnest to try to end the shutdown. They think the shutdown is working great for them. Bad news for the country = great news for Democrats.

Where the funding would actually come from has not been determined and likely would have to move through the courts first. This is speculation and political advocacy, nothing more.

for a National Emergency that is not a National Emergency by mere fact of Trump claiming it as something he "wants to do". What the President wants to do or does not want to do is not a National Emergency. I suspect Trump is backing away from it because both his legal and political advisors have told him he loses either way if he tries this National Emergency route.

It may work in the short term, but it wont work for long. Eventually the American patience for this standoff will end. And when it does, you will see the president willing to compromise and end the shutdown and the democrats unwilling to do so. It will then become clear who is obstructing the functions of government and dem support will collapse. Trump will simply have to sit there and say "Hey, I am willing to meet the democrats half way in order to reopen the government and get these federal workers back on the job and paid, but the democrats refuse." Good luck with that, liberals. The dems uncompromising, Trump hating position works weel with the fringe base, but no one else.

It was also reported by several alt. right new sources that Democrats have been observed eating ice cream. Two Democrats were observed having a pizza.

This **** has to stop. It's not fair. If President Individual 1 sits in the White House watching television all day on the weekend (which is pretty much what he does everyday) it's not fair that members of the Democratic Congress should be outside playing with their friends. It's not fair. It's not fair.

I believe the trip included both meetings and watching the show. Which by the way is raising millions of dollars to help Puerto Rico in its recovery.

Oh and as far as funding border security? A Republican came up with a wonderful idea. Cruz has reintroduced the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order Act, or EL CHAPO Act, to Congress.
The bill would designate any money and assets seized from notorious gangster Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and allocate them for the construction of the border wall. El Chapo was extradited to the U.S. in 2017 to face charges related to running one of the most notorious drug cartels in the world.
His net worth at the time of arrest was $14 billion. Trump is only asking for over 5 billion. Sounds good to me. In the end a piece of **** Mexican who poured billions of drugs into this country using every person along the way destroying lives will end up paying for the wall and more while the asshole rots in prison. Now that's a win win !!!!

Lol, you are very amusing. Perhaps you can recognize that the Republicans do not have control of the House? The Democrats are free to pass whatever legislation they find fitting. They are not required to do Trump's bidding. Whatever Trump pushes through his toady in the Senate, is not going to be met with open arms in the House.

I am certainly not against seizing funds from drug cartels. Those funds could certainly be used to deal with many problems and needs in this country....like opiod addiction, and revitalizing infrastructure...two issues POTUS claimed important but has done zero about. Either of these would be more useful and helpful to our country than building a vanity wall on the border, that is by definition incapable of succeeding at it's stated purpose.

Thanks for starting this thread. It exposed you and some of the other Trump lovers in a way that would be funny if it wasn't sad. Reading some of the posts in here from the citizens of Trump Fan Nation, it's obvious that you believe that Puerto Rico is a town, no, Puerto Rico is a country. Good **** right there.

By the way, good for these Democrats for supporting the initiative to help Puerto Rico, which by the way is neither a town nor a separate country. They actually care about their fellow citizens, and went down there and spent their own money and helped the economy.

Of course, they should have gone and just tossed rolls of paper towels around, but the President already did that.
