Alex Ocasio Kortez (A OK) Gotta Love this Work of Art

Aren't health and education also national issues? How can a country have national security with unhealthy poorly educated troops?

Health and education aren't in the enumerated powers. However, as I understand it the elastic clause gives the federal government the power to create bodies that govern them.

Just so much stupid from her yap, you’d swear she is a Republican plant.

You Go Girl. Vomit you and your party’s stupid for all to witness. Americans should not be denied learning what morons you are, and for your openness... I Thank You.

Remember we have a divided country. There are no absolutes unless everyone thinks alike, which we don't.

Hard to argue with what she said. Trump has systematically violated human rights on the border. Fortunately the courts and public opinion have checked the worst aspects of his policy.

That last line bothered me. What, really, is "winning a debate"?

There's being right. But being right isn't winning. I learned that one long ago. In fact, most of the time it would seem that winning just means having a majority of people saying whatever it is you just said (well, usually, the other way around). There's no overseer, no objective referee ruling on who scored what. And if they get a majority of people repeating their stupid lies, they are "winning".

Fortunately, it would seem that yet again, the tides turn, and they are not likely to be "winning".

I totally agree. I prefer a discussion. No winners and losers. Just an exchange of ideas. I chose my words poorly.

When dealing with a hyper-partisan who claims that supporting universal health care makes you a socialist, you're dealing with someone who uses socialism as an insult. So, it's almost never an exchange of ideas with such a person. If it were an honest exchange of ideas, they would concede that universal health care is not state control of the means of production. They would admit that almost all developed economies are mixed.

Maybe I should say: if you really want to fluster someone who is using socialism as an insult, ask them to define it because they can't.

Indeed. I've attempted to point that out many times here. The answer seems to always be "it is whatever I'm aiming at when I call something socialism." Government regulation is socialism because someone said it is too much regulation, nevermind the complete lack of government ownership of the means of production....

Who cares what she says? Unless you live in her district why pay her any mind?

the radio pundits and fox have probably hyperfocused on her and are bleating on about it daily. just a guess from my own right wing days.

i don't think they understand "The Trump effect" they are having with covering her everyday.. like the networks did to Trump in 2016.

Is it Romper Room night , for the DP Left.

NATIONAL ISSUES, such as the borders and immigration, are the purview of the Federal government...or do you support ZERO Federal govt.?

The rest are the business of the STATES, or the People.

Try reading that Constitution thingy.

Or do you support the Confederate States of America?

Facilitating interstate commerce and travel, fighting the wars, protecting the borders.,counting the people.

I don't think I missed any.

possibly. i suppose that we'll see. she seems intelligent and has potential, but i hope that she can learn from her mistakes unlike some politicians. for example, the timing for proposing a new deal program was off. FDR would have never gotten the first one passed in the Roaring 20s. you have to wait until the gamblers collapse the global economy again before something like that can get any traction. either way, at least someone is talking about something other than endless tax cuts as a solution for everything.

Its not just the right focusing on her. The left props her up every chance they get. I think its more about a New divisive person on to exploit instead of trotting out the same old faces

Because she is “the future” of the Democrat Party*, and “the future” is vomiting Democrat Speak.

Why Do Democrats want to bury Socialist... A-OK... like a rotting corpse?

Why? Is she too honest? Giving too much away?

Communism is an economic system. What does any of this have to do with communism?

I think "communism" is just a term now used by conservatives for anything they don't like, as in "I hate pickles in my burgers. They are so commie!", or "I hate my neighbor blasting his stereo at 3 am. What a commie!", or "Aaargh! Morning rush hour traffic is so communist!".

Communism is an evil which, at a minimum, enslaves people to the All Mighty State. It does so through force. It’s not just economic.

Seems you were not around during the Cold War, or you wouldn’t have uttered such massive nonsense... stuff on par with A-OK in the video.

As soon as the Democrats seize the White House, both houses of Congress, and the Supreme Court (by impeaching and convicting the conservative members), they will tell her to shut her mouth, and she will.

So let Alexandria enjoy her 15 minutes of fame. Bless her little heart.

That dingbat isn't even trying to hide her commie side.

That openness (transparency?) is quite refreshing, actually. I would rather have all congress critters openly share their positions. After all, what use is voting if you have little clue as to how a person intends to represent your district/state in congress?

From each according to their ability (to pay more taxes), to each according to their need (for more public assistance). That seems to be her basic mantra and is shared by many "democratic socialists".

I don't agree with much of what she advocates yet she certainly has the right, perhaps even the duty, to say what she intends to try to accomplish.
