President Trump has signed legislation to name a post office after fallen U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, whose parents Trump attacked during the presidential campaign.

The bill, which names a Charlottesville, Va. post office after Khan, was introduced by GOP Rep. Tom Garrett (Va.) and passed by Congress earlier this month.

Trump signed the bill on Friday, according to CNN.
=======================================
'Khan graduated from the University of Virginia, and was the school’s only alumnus to be killed in action in the Iraq war.'

Trump had attacked his parents for criticizing his proposed Muslim Ban.

This is either incredible stupidity or incredible hypocrisy or both.

What exactly do you mean by this.

Sure what Trump did was stupid back then, but he did sign it, I don't see much need to dwell on this particular subject.

Perhaps he is, in his own way, trying to make amends.

Maybe no one told him it was the same person.

Why dont you just say "Thank you President Trump, that is a great idea" and call it a day.....

It's Christmas!

Kudos to Trump. Partisanship would be the only reason for criticizing Trump on this.

The soldier's name is back in the news. Partisanship is not the only reason to be reminded at this time how badly Trump treated the man's parents.

History is not blotted out whenever an ogre commits some small good deed. Ogres may hope to accomplish a whitewash of history by doing small good deeds, but it does not work that way.

Red:
What is up with that? Some sort of twisted "passive-aggressive" non-sequitur form of mea culpa?

I've meet plenty of people who were honest and honorable that came from ****head parents.

Trump does something presidential and rewards the son of a man who criticized him in the campaign and started a false rumour about being denied reentry into the US and it's meet with criticism.

Are people upset about the honour bestowed on this young man or simply feel the need to.make asses out of themselves because it was something Trump did?

So... you would've praised him if he'd refused to sign it...?

It's none of the above.

Look, Congress sends Trump a bill to name a freaking P.O. after someone. Trump signs it. Big deal.

There’s obviously more going on here. I certainly hope the new Congress launches an investigation next week.

There is nothing to praise either way. Congress passed a bill. He signed it.

To earn praise the first step would be to express regret for how badly he treated the parents. Because of Trump's past acts, most of the time he's is starting from a hole and he needs to build a ladder to step out of the hole. That was his own doing though. And he chooses not to build ladders. A neutral act such as signing a bill could be turned into a ladder if he chose to frame it that way. But it doesn't appear that he chose to use it to make a penitent move.

So President Trump does the correct/right thing but he is still wrong in your blind/partisan eyes? Stupidity or incredible hypocrisy or both. I vote for both!!!

We need a special counsel to investigate this issue. :lamo :peace

True... but you wouldn't attack him if he refused to sign it? 'course you would. Seems to me there was only one thing to do and he did it, and gets attacked for it anyway. Such is politics, I supose.

If all things were equal he would not be attacked for signing this bill.

But if all things were equal, he would not have attacked the parents of the soldier being honored by the bill.

That makes everything different. It's not politics. It's Trump building his political career on outrageous behavior, never apologizing for the outrageous behavior, and then Trump's supporters acting like it is inappropriate for people to remember the outrageous behavior.

I believe the Khans were the ones who opted to thrust themselves into the political spotlight and publicly attack Donald Trump - going so far as to question whether he'd even read the Constitution - to which Trump responded in kind. Perhaps his reaction stooped even lower than the Khans' initial attack; perhaps he should have meekly lay down and let them trash him, or perhaps his responsd should have been more gracious; maybe his election odds were harmed by the exchange,or maybe not.

But as far as I can see all of that's got nothing to do with naming a post office - and Trump did the right thing (the only thing) there. One could very easily come away with the impression that this is a case of cynically exploiting an honour given to a fallen soldier for petty partisan ends.

Trump should have attacked the man's parents for using his death for political gain.

What do you see as hypocritical here?

We can't forget that the criticism that came from the father over the policy was because the man makes money from getting Muslim immigrants their papers.

Trump had every right to criticize them.

Nothing to see here. Most of Trump's grudges are short term. They have to be restarted from the other side to remain in effect. The exception is Barack Obama.
