Why A Government Shutdown Over The Wall?

LOL!!

According to the Dems, it's NEVER them who shut down the government...even when they do.

Methinks you Trumpkins have a memory shorter than Trump's ****.

I am very confused, can Trump supporters please explain this to me.

Why is it, the President of the United States is threatening to shut down his own government because of the Border Wall, when he assured us all, that Mexico was going to pay for it...

Shutdowns actually end up costing more money for Taxpayers than if the government just stays open due to a number of factors.

So not only would building the wall be a massive waste of money, but Trump is threatening to waste even more money in an attempt to waste more money.

The utter stupidity of contemporary American politics is astounding.

It's because Trump is in hot water with all his buddies going to jail and the investigations surrounding him. He needs to flip the script, change some headlines, get his followers worked up and single-focused in order to remove some of the publicity surrounding the ****storm that is his administration. This is one of the easiest narratives to use to accomplish that task, though it's not working quite as well as some of his past narrative swaps have gone. Get the focus off of him and onto the dastardly Democrats.

The difference between "negotiating" or "attempting to negotiate" has no bearing on my point. Trump had them there for a reason.

Nobody in the room tried to negotiate anything. That means your contention..."Trump is now negotiating with them" is just plain wrong.

Personally, I think Trump had them in the room to set them up...which he did. He exposed them...to their mortification...to the American public as outright refusing to work with Trump in a matter that concerns national security.

Alright, that's very plausible. So then it would seem my original statement of Trump "using them as bogeymen", is true.

Well, you never know. He might happen upon another 'caravan' to hyperbolically exploit ...

Nah...I don't see that characterization as being accurate. I see it more of letting them reveal themselves.

Bogeyman implies an irrational fear. Nobody fears Nancy and Chuck. Trump simply prevented them from lying.

What I thought rather clever was Trump taking the "who's at fault for shutting down the government" blame game off the table. Wiped it off. Usually, that's the hot potato that no one wants to be holding when a shut down occurs because of partisanship. Trump took away Chuck and Nancy's ability to wield that power and lord that accusation over Trump's head.
Trump said, "Yeah, I'll take responsibility" and it was right after Chuck Schumer whined about the last shut down being ascribed to him.
Trump looked like the "big shoulders" guy, willing to go to the mat. Chuck looked like a sissy with his knee-jerk protestations.

I think Chuck and Nancy wanted to make Trump the "shut down" bogeyman, and he defused that ruse immediately. Which, c'mon, was pretty brilliant.

I can respect your opinion, here.

We'll see if trump shuts it down. He didn't shut it down when the Republicans didn't give him a wall, so we'll see if he does it against the Dems. If he does, then I'm calling it political. It may be argued not to be a "bogeyman" - as you did - but I'm still willing to call it "demonizing" or "scape-goating" or somesuch.

His battle with Pelosi and Schumer was nothing more than posturing...on both sides.

Schumer and Pelosi have both voted for Border security. Both have voted for walls. They have never voted to fund the walls and barriers they voted for. But Trump had two years to have this battle with the GOP controlled House and Senate so threatening a shutdown over the wall with Pelosi and Schumer in the room is just politics. Bad politics.

We NEED better border security. In some places that means new and better walls. New and better, because in case its lost on people...we ALREADY HAVE walls. Its comical seeing so many politicians...especially politicians from California talking about TRUMPS wall calling 'racist'.

This is in place. It was built in the 90s...by Bill Clinton.

This is the kind of crap border security that the democrats put in place.

And as a result we have hundreds to thousands coming into the US illegally daily. So either we believe in border security or we dont. Right now its obvious...politicians dont...from either side.
