Can anyone Trumpsplain this one for me?

All of a sudden the Liberals are okay with a large defense budget and foreign intervention.
They use to champion tariffs and trade protectionism now they are against it. I wonder what the common denominator is?

Nato members signed an agreement to spend 2% of their GDP on their military. They have defaulted on that agreement. They are wrong. Trump is right.

Germany spends approximately 1.2% of its gdp on its armed forces and it arguably has some of the top military forces in Europe let alone the world.

What would the additional .8% in spending require? Would Germany have to buy tanks with high powered laser cannons like the ones from the command and conquer series of games?

They signed the agreement. Spare me the weasel BS. .8% adds up, and most member states enjoying joint protection treaties are way below 1.2%.

The Bundswehr only has 179,000 active duty personel and is ranked 27th in the world.

And? That wasn't the only part of the tweet. Plus, they renewed the agreement, and the new deadline is 2024.

That's BS. They agreed when they joined. They've enjoyed the benefits for decades. They're dead-beats. Don't defend that.

Why shouldn’t they break sgreements? Trump does. Isn’t it kind of hypocritical for us to moan about this, given that Trump has backed out of agreements on climate and trade, and has shown little respect for treaties on refugees?
