[W:34] Guts or brains?

I agree that, in most respects, Trump is as smart as the average 5th grader. I disagree that he tries to be an everyman. Trump has not lived the everyman life, ever, therefore he has no experience or understanding to draw from. What Trump is is a very wealthy, but incredibly crude individual. That crudeness is what most of his base identifies with. Of course he panders to his base on issues, but the personality we see is the real Trump.

Is not the every man crudeness in the first place?

Trump’s type of crudeness isn’t the homespun, simple unsophisticated folk kind. His is the vulgar, boorish, and offensively coarse type. So, no, in my opinion Trump’s crudeness is not of the “every man” kind, and is one of his most repellent features for many Americans.

Why does Trump have a hard-on for CNN and not MSNBC? CNN leans left, but isn't as far left as MSNBC. Does Trump like MSNBC?

I keep seeing this image constantly, and I find that it beggars my belief. First of all, who came up with this board? And Jacobin and The Nation are put as highly factually-based and reliable, while the Daily Wire is deemed factually incorrect and utterly unreliable? On what basis? I would ask for an explanation as to the reliability and unreliability of these sites, and what specifically was non-factual/nonreliable about their reporting, rather than relying on some nifty slapped-together set of images. I am sorry, but this graph being passed off as fact is just so much nonsense to me.

These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward liberal causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports and omit reporting of information that may damage liberal causes.

Vanessa Otero, in 2017. Just like it's disclosed right on the image.

You can read all about it here. And if you disagree with her methodology and reasoning, then don't pay attention o it.

I find it amusing...and a bit pathetic...that you are reduced to snark.

Fact is, Trump is correct about the Fed.

But, that unsophisticated white folks is his political base. And, with a unsophisticated voter, they are the last person to say they made a mistake with their vote.

Not sure how this ^^ relates to the discussion we were having.

You asserted (correct me if I’m wrong) that Trump puts on a show, pretending to be an “every man”, for his base. I say that, yes Trump plays to his base, but that what you perceive as his “every man” schtick is really who Trump is. Further, that I believe his type of crude behavior is abhorrent, not “down home” or “folksy”.

I agree with you, but, it is that base that keeps supporting him. His base does not really talks about politics -- but it feels in comfort with Trump.

I grew up in rural America with a small population and the biggest employer was farming. I left the place to go to college and never want to return to the community. When I grew up, I was a Republican and the community were more Rockefeller Republicans with farmers not planting any crops but getting money from the federal government but also working in the city as a side-line. If your parents were farmers and you were Vietnam age to go into the army: you were given land to prevent you from servicing in the military.

The people were crude, and with adults you talked about your gender what it can do in crudeness. For the intelligent, they went to High School, became a teacher and was teaching in the same High School they went to. The only social activities for the adults, was the local school district. You had to be born there to be accepted.

Today, that is Trumps base. If I was 14 years old -- I would support Trump. But, I look at it as moving back words not forward. You cannot pay me to move back to my childhood, as I would look at it as accepting defeat. Second, I am far to intelligent to be accepted in a place I grew up from.
