That is a redundant paradox.
No, it's not, not matter how much that upsets you.
A Republic is constitutional rule.
A Democracy is mob rule.
Both forms of government can have democratically elected representatives.
There are no Democracies in existence today.
The USA is a Federated Republic. Republic because it is ruled by a Constitution and federated because there are several layers of republics (state and local governments).
This is all basic history...
The United States is a Representative Democracy no matter how loud you protest to the contrary. The constitution limits the power of government. We elect representatives, so it’s not a pure democracy. But we do elect them by majority rule so it is democratic. States use direct democracy all the time in ballot measures, electing the actual senators, etc...
The US is simply not purely a federal republic.
This is all basic civics.
