If you had to pick an actor to be president...

I'm not kidding. You're all Putin's bitches. It is treason to be this naive.

Go start a thread about it, then.

If we're gonna what-if, an Iranian-American woman sounds about right for this season.

Shohreh Aghdashloo
Her character on Expanse, she'd need to character act that throughout the presidency.

Are you kidding? That thickly accented, horse voiced, beat-up old school marm personae? I can barely tolerate the self-righteous character.

Perfect.

Now that we have the democrat nominee we have to find a republican.

I can just see Clint talking to Kim Jong Un. "You have to ask yourself if you're feeling lucky today. Well, are ya....punk?"

This is just for fun. Don’t take it seriously. If you don’t like or understand hypothetical questions just go away, there is a reason nobody invited you to their parties in high school. ;)

Let’s pretend the next President of the United States must be selected from a pool of living actors and actresses. Retired ones are allowed. They must be natural born Americans at least 35 years old. And no, politicians who have had cameos don’t count so just because Hillary has been on Murphy Brown or Biden has been on VEEP does not make them eligible. Only professional actors/actresses may be considered.

I came up with the OP so I am going to take the easy one: Tom Hanks.

Your turn, go.

Josh Brolin.

We've already got a sexual predator in the Oval Office; we don't need another one.

Clooney is aces, though.

Bill Clinton isn’t in Oval Office anymore.

I think a lot of actors could be great leaders. The problem is unless they buy into one of our corrupt parties they have little of no chance of being elected. I have seen this first hand working the polls. More people pull the party lever than know who is running or the issues.

The Democrats could find fiction works better than reality: Either the Secretary of State, Tea Leoni, or the long-suffering wife of a philandering politician, Juliana Margulies.

No surprise a strong female hasn't been chosen yet.

Queen Latifah.
Any actress who appears in public without being well-groomed is digging her own grave.

Although Dana has acted, I think of her as a musician/vocalist who's had acting roles rather than as an actor. Similarly, for example, though Oprah has acted, I think of her as a businesswoman, news reporter and talk show host, not as an actor, even though she obtained critical acclaim for her acting.

I'm not criticizing your suggestion; I'm merely sharing why Dana wouldn't have come to my mind in response to the thread question.

Truth be told, regarding singers and talk show hosts, I don't have the same objection I earlier noted regarding actors. I don't because musicians'/vocalists' craft is enhanced by their ability to express their own personal experiences, character, feelings, ideas, etc. through music and lyrics, whereas actors are abetted and lauded for being able to portray someone else's feelings, ideas, character, feelings, etc. Folks who can adroitly do that give me pause when I attempt to suss whether what I'm seeing/hearing from them is sincerely them or simply something they're presenting because they know how and can.

Your job as actors is to understand the size of what you say, to understand what's beneath the word.

Willie Nelson. He has acted in several films. I’d actually vote for him. He is more honest than damn near anyone in DC. He has amazing common sense.

His VP, Morgan Freeman for the same reasons.

Has anyone even seen Spacey since #metoo took him down?

No. Which is fine.
I'm sure Roman Polanski would like to hang out with him, though. They seem to have the same personal "tastes".

Not sure it's him at his most presidential but....

Jackson would be....unique. Like his movie lines, his speeches would be peppered with obscenities.

I would also nominate Kevin Costner or Gary Sinise. Sinise would win the military vote hands down (Does tons of work with veterans orgs and does USO tours).

Well now that Robin Williams is dead I would have to say Jon Stewart, although I would like to see them together there...
