You calling others Ill informed and ignorant is a bit like Ronald McDonald calling one of his patrons a fat bastard.

No. I agree we should be more uniform on the age of majority. For example I think 18 year olds should be able to buy alcohol and handguns because they are adults. But operating a motor vehicle doesn’t have anything to do with being an adult.

And technically a 16 year old’s parents could MAKE their kid vote the way they want them to. 18 years is fine for voting.

Dumbest idea ever presented....why would I want some dumb, teenage girl deciding my government for me, a tax payer? Liberal ideas are the dumbest ideas ever, must be why most of them are forced upon us. Ideas so good we have to be forced by law to accept them. Dumb.

16 year old kids are classified as juvenile for a very good reason.
No they should not be able to vote!

Voting age should be the same as driving age

What? In making that statement, are you, OP-er, advocating for increasing the driving age or lowering the voting age.
  • If the former: Okay. The prospect of disallowing minors to drive consoles me.
  • If the latter: We already have too many inadequately informed/educated people voting. Why the hell increase the quantity of such folks being able to vote?

Anyone over forty knows to be an adolescent is to be:

  • [*=1]Omniscient, thus infallible,
    [*=1]Omnipotent, thus immortal, yet also
    [*=1]Unsure of whom one is,
[*=1]Unsure of what one can or wants to be,
[*=1]Afraid, but uncertain of what, and
[*=1]Angry, yet undecided about at whom.
There's no way I'd give any such person, even very accomplished ones, any say in my life or country's destiny. The notion of doing so is, for me, a non-starter.

Agree. Juveniles are unable to sign contracts before age 18, they should not be allowed to vote for someone else to accept a contractual (oath of office) job either.

There is no logical reason that voting, driving, drinking, or owning firearms legal ages needs to or should be “in line”.

I'm suggesting that you have to pass a test to get your voting license when you turn 16 the same way you do to get a driver's permit. You can take it once a day, except you only become eligible when you turn 16. You would unfortunately have to make an exception that when you turn 18, you can vote without passing the test, so as to avoid taking away people's rights to vote who have been voting and creating an uproar. Perhaps you could place an additional restriction specifically on 16 and 17 year olds that they have to provide documentation that they worked X number of hours that year. They have to have some form of documented employment such as a part time job after school, paper route, etc.

Let's face the fact. Just about all teenagers are stupid. We already have enough stupid people voting now. We don't need more.
