Well, as we all know, one thing that people with debilitating diseases like smallpox are known for is walking 2,000 miles.

I take stories like these as a sign of the wild desperation of someone expecting to lose. At this point the consequences, and even the reality, of what they're saying are secondary to the remote possibility that they might frighten enough people who lack critical thinking skills to rely on bad information and vote. When someone is all but threatening voters with death from an eradicated disease, you can bet your house that they are absolutely convinced that they are going to lose.
 
The Evangelicals will appreciate the Biblical reference; leprosy......
 
This is some real old school racism. The "invaders" are ravaged with disease and are coming to get us.

EDN System Data

EDN provided access to overseas medical examinations that were reported to CDC quarantine stations (Table 2). During 2009, the CDC EDN system notified 438 tuberculosis controllers and refugee health coordinators in 223 U.S. state and local health departments (Figure 2) in all 50 states and DC of 104,954 arrivals, including 19,358 (18.4%) immigrants with medical conditions of public health significance, 78,899 refugees with or without medical conditions (75.2%), and 6,697 (6.4%) applicants with other visa types (with or without medical conditions). Of the 78,899 total refugees arrivals, 21,319 (27%) had a medical condition. The New York John F. Kennedy International Airport was the entry point for the largest proportion (39%) of refugees. Medical examinations of immigrants with medical conditions were collected at all 20 quarantine stations, of which Los Angeles, California, collected the most (21.6%).

The gestation period in which symptoms don’t show is significantly less than the duration of their journey. Smallpox has a gestation period of a couple weeks. If any of them left with the caravan they sure aren’t with them any more. Whoever is left in that caravan by the time they make it to our port of entry is undoubtedly far healthier, physically, than the average American.

Only immigrants applying for permanent residence in the US have to show proof of vaccines before coming. Millions of foreign tourists from all over the world come here every year without such documentation and we do just fine. The people in this caravan certainly don’t pose an extra risk of that.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to oppose letting the members of the caravan in but these disease comments are a baseless scare tactic.

Yeah, it's a huge invasion of the USA by MS-13 radicals all ridden with decease. They are all rapists and gangsters barely alive to make the trip!

Yeah, the MS-13 claim is beyond ridiculous. MS-13 members are not going to “sneak” in with asylum seekers. MS-13 don’t exactly hide who they are. It is tattooed on their freaking faces. And they have their own coyotes who can provide FAR easier ways to enter our country. Yeah, they are a concern, but they aren’t sneaking in with the caravan.
 
Why can’t people just stick the facts and stop making up crap? There is nothing wrong with saying that illegal immigrants drive down the wages of some of our important industries and if we allow this caravan in that will just encourage more caravans to come in the future. The finer points of that can be argued by reasonable people but at least it is a respectable way to oppose it.

That argument gets less voters to the ballot box. "You're going to die unless you vote for my party," is sadly more effective.

Nearly half (45 percent) of all Americans suffer from at least one chronic disease.

We should actually be running (or turning our military) from or on ourselves.

Bring on those immigrants. They are healthier than we are
