Attny for Convicted Right Wing Terrorist Points to Trump's Rhetoric for Lenient Sentence

Please point to where Bernie Sanders publicly attacked Steve Scalise.

It doesn’t matter, there’s no evidence Scalise was the direct target, he fired on republicans shouting “this is for healthcare” Bernie said millions would die if we gave people freedom of choice in healthcare

That is laughable. There's no equivalence there but, nice try to 'both sides' it.

I also support the existence of aliens therefore cheese.

Pointing to Trump’s rhetoric, attorneys for Kansas militiaman convicted of mosque bomb plot ask for a more lenient sentence

How's that for a defense. And Trump says he should "tone it up."

Obviously, we know it's not totally Trump's fault, that these far right quacks plot against the Muslim community. But, the question is, does the rhetoric of Donald Trump encourage these crazy assholes?

People have been targeting real or perceived Muslims for assault and murder ever since 9/11. Even beyond that, its not that Donald’s lack of filter is the genesis of hate speech. It’s that the media suddenly developed an interest in reporting on things that have been said in the public domain for ages and tries to establish some dotted line leading to Donald. In truth, he merely appealed to what was already out there. What he says makes not a whit of difference. The whole nest of pundits and attorneys that scapegoat him for everything reminds me of the stupid assertion from religious conservatives that kids would be chaste little angels were it not for pornography and violent video games.

Defense lawyers will grasp at any straw to benefit their clients. No big surprise he's seize on the false narrative that "it's all Trump's fault."

I think Trump's rhetoric and the RW talk radio rhetoric is a factor.

I also find it strange that conservatives who demonized Obama for his perceived "anti-cop" stance on the bully pulpit, will do endless backflips trying to justify Trump's rhetoric that is of an exponentially higher temperature.

I too find it strange that the shrieks of racism and xenophobia from progressives to describe people who didn’t vote for Obama or support his catch and release policy now do endless backflips to assert that it never existed before Trump’s rhetoric and he’s somehow pulling the levers in the minds of the deranged. So I suppose we’ve all stepped through the looking glass.
