Exact title: "Conservatives mount a whisper campaign smearing Khashoggi in defense of Trump"

Snippet:
Hard-line Republicans and conservative commentators are mounting a whispering campaign against Jamal Khashoggi that is designed to protect President Trump from criticism of his handling of the dissident journalist’s alleged murder by operatives of Saudi Arabia — and support Trump’s continued aversion to a forceful response to the oil-rich desert kingdom.

In recent days, a cadre of conservative House Republicans allied with Trump has been privately exchanging articles from right-wing outlets that fuel suspicion of Khashoggi, highlighting his association with the Muslim Brotherhood in his youth and raising conspiratorial questions about his work decades ago as an embedded reporter covering Osama bin Laden, according to four GOP officials involved in the discussions who were not authorized to speak publicly.
Well, these actions are deplorable. We have an intrepid journalist murdered by the royal dictator family and all the apparatchiks in the Republican Party and their cronies in the right-wing media want to do is shield Trump from any and all criticism of his handling of this matter, which includes backing the royal dictators of Saudi Arabia.

They have done this to everybody who has been a thorn in some way to trump's side.

“Khashoggi was tied to the Muslim Brotherhood,” Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner asserted on Thursday’s highly rated “Outnumbered” show. “I just put it out there because it is in the constellation of things that are being talked about.” Faulkner then dismissed another guest who called her claim “iffy.”

In the constellation of things that are being talked about. Nice. And it will be repeated here as fact.

This isn't breaking news.
It's a biased opinion piece, a WA Post Power piece.

What is deplorable about stating facts about the man?

Maybe it messes with your preferred narrative?

The link doesn't send me to the right story.
Nevertheless, the complaints about a smear campaign is still hilarious considering what we all observed in September into October.

I saw stories about Khashoggi and the Muslim Brotherhood connection over a week ago.
He doesn't deserve to meet his end this way, assuming he did, but the M.B./Khashoggi story was still worth reporting even though it didn't appear in the major outlets until they could come up with the right angle.

There's one of those guys here in this forum. Calls himself 'Grokmaster'.

Smearing a man that was tortured and chopped up into pieces by a barbaric regime is low class. Then again I may as well be speaking Inuit because you don't understand that.

Before you get all triggered, you should probably wait to find out if he was, in fact, tortured and chopped up into pieces.

In the meantime, it's perfectly reasonable to look at what kind of man he was/is.

Do you believe Soros paid him to chop himself up, finger by finger, while turning up the music to cover the screams?

Yes, because we can surely trust the Saudi "investigation" that's been going on now for over two weeks. He walks in, doesn't walk out, the consulate is effectively Saudi soil, staffed by Saudis, covered at all ends with cameras showing people entering and exiting. I wonder what happened? It's....a mystery! Maybe he went to the bathroom and locked himself in? Who knows? Could be lots of things, and I'm sure we'll find out soon what REALLY happened.

FWIW, the relevant part of "what kind of man he was" was a critic of a murderous Crown Prince, and so was disappeared.

As I said, low class.

I don't believe anything.

I wonder what happened, too. You got any facts?

And also, apparently, he is connected to the MB...an organization with ties to terrorist.

The facts are he went into the Saudi consulate, disappeared, and is by all rational thinking DEAD.

The entire Saudi royal family has much bigger "ties to terrorists" and basically anyone who has any position of power in the ME has "ties to terrorists" so that's like saying he was a Saudi, today is October 19th, and it's around 3pm. So what?

Our own intelligence says that this happened. The Turks say they have audio of the event.

Turkish nationals in the embassy staff were sent home early.

Let's review the Saudi response.

First, we know nothing about it.
Then, oh, he was here but he left on his own.
Then, well, he didn't leave. It was an interrogation gone wrong. I guess we had to chop him up with the bone saw that happened to be available with an expert in bone saws, that just happened to stop by.
But... the royal family had no knowledge of this.
Then, we learn from the NY Times, who used facial recognition software, that 9 of the 15 agents sent there to kill K were known associates of the Prince.

In all of this, Trump backs the Saudis.
