Yes. It is insane. It is also insane that there are some of the electorate and in congress which don't want to secure the border.
Walls have both historically, and in present day, shown themselves to be effective in border control. No reason that we shouldn't build one on the Southern border, where illegal border crossing and illegal immigrants is a significant problem.
That's because of the special interest groups lobbying through the Chamber of Commerce that seem to have countless money to fill the coffers of those who will vote in their favor.
