Warren is an angry raging white haired old woman who - like Clinton - can't make a decent sincere smile to save her life. The only difference between her and Clinton is she doesn't have the Clinton's money or connections. It'd make more sense to run Hilary again than Warren, though possibly as an angry attack-dog VP candidate she could fill the female slot if Democrats nominate a white male.

Warren can hold her Senate seat forever as secure as a Kennedy in Mass. But a national presidential candidate? Certainly Democrats are not THAT dumb!

When are Democrats going to figure out that Republicans love it when Democrats call everyone racists?

Nor does it make sense. At the same time, Democrats will rant that America is racist while attacking racists? You don't gain votes by attacking voters.

I believe that's because the Cherokee tribe doesn't okay DNA sampling. The 23 and me uses Central American samples, for their Native American. There are other tribes that don't allow DNA, as well.

My cousin had a DNA test. It did not show Native American. There was a 10% unknown in her DNA, however. Some of the various companies have a hard time detecting Native American DNA, and sometimes it is just too diluted (also something very complicated about how some female genetics are passed on, etc).

Our great-grandmother was brought West on the Trail-of-Tears, then raised by a white family and later married, in Texas. She lived with my grandparents later, and taught my grandmother how to store vegetables for winter, medicinal plants, etc. My grandfather did not look half Indian, but his couple of sisters that I saw definitely did. We think she was Cherokee, because that is what Grandpa said. Supposedly, one of the cousins destroyed a photo of great grandma (as a girl, in her tribal clothing). People tried to hide Indian blood back in those days.

It's better for her to get it out of the way now then when she is actually running. The point of the DNA test was to reinforce her family story. That job is now done and hopefully she moves on from it. There is nothing brilliant about calling someone Pocahontas. It shows an inability to argue on issues.
 
I see Warren's claim as precisely accurate. She said the Indian was great, great. great gramdmother. Let's count: Warren, Mother, Grandmother, Great number 1, Great number 2, Great number 3 equals six generations, exactly what the DNA test stated as a possibility.

He is making fun of her for believing something she was taught as a child. And he is doing it in culturally inappropriate terms. You are defending someone who called a black Apprentice contestant Uncle Tom and had to have it explained to him that this was not cool.

He didn't care if she really had any native heritage or not -- he started calling her Pocahontas to score political points. If you are part of the group he was pandering to, then you should be embarrassed that he thinks so poorly of you.

He didn't care about the facts when he said Obama was born in Kenya and was not legitimately president.


His behavior is inappropriate, and it's not justified by any after-the-fact discoveries about how close Elizabeth Warren's mother was to being accurate. That even Calamity would show that he's becoming numb to how wrong it is ... that is the sad takeaway of this thread.

We all agree that Trump is a boorish oaf--even his sycophants would not argue much against that one. He lays down turds, and he waits for someone: Jeb, Rubio, Cruz, Hillary and now Warren; to step in it. And, Liz not only stepped in it. She is foolish enough to roll around in it.

Totally new way of thinking...and, for that he should get something. Maybe a golden bucket full of ****. I suspect he would get the joke, rinse out the bucket and put it up on his mantle; right next to the heads of Lil Marco, Jeb, Lying Ted, Crooked Hillary and Pocahontas Warren.

Given that Pocahantas is mostly considered a heroic figure, I suppose Trump could claim calling her by that name is a compliment!

He did get something, the greatest trolling platform on earth - the presidency. Hell, the man trolls every day and night. He wakes up and goes to bed trolling the entire world. And society's moderators and DMs have no power to stop him.

Think of it, the entire world's the basement and you have the biggest keyboard to troll anyone and everyone all the time with no rules and no one to stop it. Doesn't even need to use spell check. All caps anytime he wants to. Attack anyone as crudely as he can think of or without thinking at all. A person could really get off on that!

She did what millions of other people are doing -- she got her DNA tested. It backed up what her mother taught her.

There's no dying on hills here.

But apparently there is now otherwise decent people congratulating Trump for being a klan-pandering jerk.

In my case, I am more or less mocking Trump's opponents. He's like the jui jitsu master mopping up the mat with white belts. Why on earth would someone stake claim to something which happens to be in the genes that is over five generations removed?

Man, I bet I can find African genes in my own DNA that is not much further back than that. So can anyone else with even a smidgeon of Southern European blood in their lineage. And almost all of us who are European can claim some Tatar or Mongolian blood. It's nuts.

I'm still hoping to wake up and find it to be Nov 9, 2008 and everything worked out as was expected. But, I kind of doubt that will happen at this point.

Take Trump out of the mix for a moment, since Warren is the one who made the claim.

What benefit did it serve Warren to claim she was a Native American? At what point of dilution can one continue to make such a claim?

As other's have noted, a good portion of the US population could lay claim to a multitude of nationalities and races, especially going back '6-10' generations. Native American, Black, it's all likely in a large percentage of any American whose family has been here for 6-10 generations. That Warren used such a statement to her benefit is the core problem.
