How about this..we try a thread on stuff we all can generally agree on. How about we make a concerted effort to find a little common ground. The past couple of weeks (months?) have been crazy with divisiveness so I'd really like to see if we can come up with at least one damned thing we all agree on.

How about "mean people suck"?

I know, "mean" is entirely subjective and what one person thinks of as "mean" someone else might figure is just kind of the way things go but I figure we can all at least agree that people who go out of their way to piss someone else off suck. Right?

How about "nobody wants their kids to suffer"?

I know that "tough love" is character building but none of us want to see our kids (or anyone else's, for that matter) really suffering. I understand that "suffering" is subjective but nobody wants to see their kids in pain.

How about ...

OK, I'm out of ideas. Anyone else got anything?

I think we all agree on most things we disagree on the best solution.
Nobody wants poverty or to live in an unfair society. The arguments begin when we debate the solutions.

Nah, I don't buy it one second that Conservatives don't like mean people or suffering children when they're pro children caging and pro limiting investigations into sexual assault. The Republican party has fallen so far morally after deciding a racist land lord accused of sexual assault by 19 people should be the President of the United States.

Some things we can all agree on:

Cancer sucks
Clean air and water is better than dirty air and water
The world needs less assholes and more kindness
The Grand Canyon is beautiful
The sound of a baby laughing is a pleasant one
Naps are awesome
CMPancake doesn’t get the point of this thread ;)

I'm generally with you on that. Most of the disagreement seems to be with how we get to a certain place. It's usually not "we don't want this result" it's almost always a disagreement about how we achieve that goal.

I'm not sure how we end up with less assholes. We've all got one and I think we can all agree that getting rid of them would bring a whole new round of problems.

As I was typing that one I just knew someone was going to be a smartass about it :)

Mosquitoes and cockroaches need to be wiped out from the face of the earth.

I think we can ALL agree that the Dallas Cowboys are a terrible organization.

Today is Saturday. Anyone agree?

I think people have more in common with each other than they realize.

Well it was a nice try

Gravity still works... we have to agree on that.

It didn’t take you long to try and derail someone trying to get us to find common ground, and as usual you sound like a liberal.

I think perhaps that we all can agree that the political rhetoric has become, or has been for some time now, over heated, and not conducive to finding compromise that can work.
