Your employer should not pay you and we should abolish the IRS

I have been reading about history and economics and I found a phrase I like from a famous philosopher and economist "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." It highlights the bare essence of what needs to be done and how we can motivate people to do the things that need to be done.

Did it ever occur to you to question who should decide what your abilities and needs are?
If not, I believe this is the first time in my life I've ever advised anyone to read Ayn Rand.

Your employer should give their profits to the government. The people then go to the government center and explain what their needs are. The government gives you the money tax free based on your needs.

Why should I have to go to the government for my sail boat or my beer habit?

I will. When I get out of school and I have money, I will only keep what I need and give all the rest away.

Keep that dream alive, Diogenes.

And here is the point that Utopians, such as the OP, doesn't seem to be aware of: People don't go through life just to satisfy their "needs". They also work very hard to satisfy their "desires".

What the OP proposes sounds less like a civilization and more like an insect colony.....welcome to drone land.

This is what I am talking about. You will contribute all that you can and will receive all that you need.

I'd prefer you get off your dead ass and support yourself...

The main problem with that idea is - if your needs are being met then why contribute? Who, exactly, decides what one's needs are or if they are contributing 'all that they can'? If the contributions of a part-time burger flipper and a full-time construction worker net the same reward then why work more/harder?

sigh...

Six years ago I build a computer that cost me $3500. I didn't "need" that computer...I wanted it. I was willing to spend a lot of "my" money...that I earned...to get it.

Would your government have given me my computer? Or would they have told me to take what they think I need...a $399 laptop from Walmart?

Or, let's look at it from a different perspective... I need shelter, right?

What if the government tells me this is the shelter I need:

But this is the shelter that I want...and I'm willing to pay for it:

Why on earth would I give all my money to the government and take what they give me?
