Red and blue, are both claiming to be the tsunami come this midterm election.
If there will indeed be a tsunami......I'm putting my money on the Red tsunami, for these reasons:

1) For all their bravado, the Democrats doesn't really have much going for them. All they did was inflame the
anti-Trumps into a frenzy - but they aren't going to vote Republicans anyway, with or without Kavanaugh!

2) The Democrats are counting on the Metoo movement - but women who support Metoo are not really sold on it. Objective MeToo supporters question the way Kavanaugh (and his wife and children along with him), were unfairly and viciously treated......on national tv.

Some MeToo supporters could very well see how the Democrats had mocked REAL victims of sexual assault/rape......by making a caricature out of Christine Blasey Ford.

As Ford's testimony fell apart, women see too, how the Democrats' tactic could now harm real victims of assault/rape.

3) A lot of women see Christine Blasey Ford ill-used by the Democrats! Her request for confidentiality was ignored, she was thrown to the wolves. By whom? The person responsible for leaking her name could only come from either Feinstein, Feinstein's staff, or her own lawyers.

4) That speech by Collins - don't underestimate it. She was eloquently talking to everyone.......especially,
to ALL WOMEN!

5) What happened to Kavanaugh sends a chill down everyone's spine. Women - no matter what stripes they wear - have a son, or a husband, or a father, or a brother to protect. Lucky that the Kavanaughs have powerful people to rally behind them. Kavanaugh is an expert on legalities and understands the law. He's rich, too. But what about us ordinary people? Imagine how it will be if your husband is fired from his job - your family's life turned upside down - based simply on an uncorroborated allegation. Condemned. With reputations tattered!

Women see their fathers, husbands, sons.....in the shoes of Kavanaugh!
I bet, a lot of folks have been talking about this at their dinner table.

6) A big chunk of the APOLITICAL populace must be enraged by the treatment of Kavanaugh.

They saw the chilling, utter disregard by the Democrats, for men who are falsely accused.

They must see a future of a society that puts politics over the principles of fairness, due process, and presumption of innocence. I bet, a lot of folks have been talking about this at their dinner table. Many will want to send a strong message, and many will want to put a stop to this dangerous precedence.

7) What about the men? What do men of all ages think about this?

How many men are silently going back to their high school years - maybe even in their kindergarten years - trying to recall whatever they may have done that could haunt them in the future?
How many men who'd done stupid things like getting drunk 30 years ago, are sweating bullets right now?

8) The Reps have a powerful weapon to use in their campaign(s) or rallies. They now really have a good reason to demonize the Dems! It will ring true!

What color of tsunami do you see? If you're betting for a blue tsunami, why?

There isn't a tsunami on either side. It will be a tight election just like always. This war is mostly about branding. Trump is branding the Democrats and the media is branding the Republicans.

Yes, both will whip up the populace as always. However,

the possibility is likely that there could be a tsunami, since what had just happened was a precedent.

Mind you....it's likely too that everyone will be fatigued by this incident, that by the time the midterm rolls in, it's back to the usual.

I do not see a tsunami either way.

What I do see are Independents increasingly irritated with both parties, but when one side goes too far with their lean it is usually Independents that rein them in by handing Congress and/or the Presidency to the other party. In this case the midterms have all eyes on the Senate, and what ultimately the disposition is of the next 116th Congress.

The political pendulum is well established in this nation yet those in power continue to assert they will stay in power with a tsunami one way or the other.

Everyone seems to want to ignore that Congress overall with their high reelection rates continue to have terrible approval rates, among Independents there is growing disapproval of Trump and the handling of Kavanaugh (by both parties,) and there are too many Senate seats that are too close to call just yet. Republicans may hold their slim majority, they may not.

The hype from commentary on both sides suggest what their viewers want to see and hear, but it will come down to where Independents end up (which is always the case.)

Kavanaugh didn't do anything to change a thing in the House in my opinion. the House wasn't involved. Where Kavanaugh could change things or mix them up a bit is those current Democratic senators in Montana, North Dakota, Indiana and Missouri who voted Nay, that could be enough to tip these races against them. Could be. We won't know or have enough data for about a week when we get several new polls.

On the other side, Heller's Aye vote could tip Nevada into the democratic column. Then there is Manchin in West Virginia who voted AYE. But that AYE vote peeved off the small Democratic base in West Virginia. That could tighten this race as Manchin leads by double digits as of today.

The rest of the tight races, I don't see Kavanaugh effecting, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee and Florida.

If there will indeed be a tsunami......I'm putting my money on the Red tsunami, for these reasons:

I don't think a tsunami is likely for either party. I think the most likely outcome is a small Democratic majority in the House and the Republicans retaining a narrow majority in the Senate.

If a tsunami happens, I think it's more likely to be blue than red. For one, that's just the way these things tend to go. When one party controls both houses of congress and the presidency, they're much more likely to lose control in a midterm than to gain an even larger majority. The other reason is due to the way Republicans have been campaigning over the last few years. Their focus has been on stirring up fear and anger. Fear of a woman in control of the country. Anger at Democratic policies and the perceived "war" on men and white people. The fear of Obama getting to replace Scalia. That sort of thing. With Kavanaugh getting confirmed and the Republicans being in total control for the last 2 years it's harder to stir up that sort of animosity to get out the vote. There will be a sense among some Republicans of "mission accomplished" that will probably reduce voter turnout somewhat.

Democrats weren't even on track to win back the normal expected mid-term turnovers of seats; they will win even less now. "Tsunamis' are purely just in their dope-addled imaginations,

I think your points are right biased, as mine would be biased to the left.

1) I don't know about bravado but I agree Democrats that are put off by Trumps constant lying, false (not really accusations) equivalencies (like comparing us to arsonists and then equating that with not being able to be trusted with power). That plays well with his base, which is all he's doing at those rallies. But other Americans see the clips and have to wonder at them. As much as those "false equivalencies" solidify his base I think as many people end up put off by them. Here's the rub; you know his base is going to vote and while an equal number of Americans are disgusted with Trumps rhetoric … will they vote.

2) I think it's unwise to underestimate "Me-Too", women do vote and are a powerful force.

I think, and I'm a man, women felt Ford's and the other Ladies accusations weren't given a fair examination. I think, if anything was "mocked", they felt the Presidents comments were a travesty. And the way the GOP maneuvered around the accusations, underplayed them, used a hired gun to interview Ford with softball questions and then discount her testimony. Then the one week FBI investigation that really didn't appear to dig that deep. All of that is a BIG minus with women against the GOP side.

3) Was Ford ill used, yes. But, from #2, I think that cuts both ways and deeper on the right.

4) After Kavanaugh's temper tantrum testimony having Collins say she hopes he's going to lessen controversy on the SC bench … may be her hope, it's all our "HOPE". But after his partisan angry unhinged testimony I don't think any thinking AmeriCAN believes he will. I think the left view him as an enemy and the right feel they know he will vote against that left and that's fine with them. NOBODY believes he is going to be a fair minded judge.

5) How chilled American spines are, I'm thinking not so much. Again that Ford and the other accusers were NOT given fair consideration didn't go unnoticed. The Kavanaugh ordeal is viewed from both sides as a travesty but not for the same reasons and will have different effect.

6) I'm not sure Kavanaugh was falsely accused, I'm sure thanks to the GOP's machinations we will never know.

7) I am a man, raised by men just back from War 2, they were tough no bull**** guys that left a lasting impression on me (my dad, uncles and the other dads on the block); they would have viewed the Kavanaugh testimony as blubbering baloney and laughed him off the continent. I was relatively reserved in my partying but had friends and saw plenty of guys that were off the hook, I was the guy that gathered them up, sobered them up and took them home. I believe Kavanaugh was off the hook during his late high school and prep years, he wasn't alone. And I believe Ford.

8) I think you're right the GOP is going to play the Kavanaugh card for all it's worth, which will again cut both ways and, without the "Dems" doing anything (which the will do something) the GOP keeping this up front will motivate "Dems" as well as Cons.

After 16 I'm certainly not going to predict this or any election again. I did learn NOT to be complacent, to work like the result means everything; it does, and to vote and make sure everyone I can will vote too. If people get out and vote, Dem or Con, the numbers are on the "Dems" side. 80,000 votes in a National election were the difference that put Trump in the White House. "Dems" stayed home because of the 8 year long smear campaign against HRC and the Polls said it was in the bag anyway, so they were complacent.

VOTE!!!!! Who ever you are VOTE!!!!
