Prior to the Kavanaugh hearings, I was pretty certain the Senate and House were going blue, not a lot, but a little.

But then came the disgusting attempt to ruin a man's life and reputation. Not based on solid information. Not based on evidence.

Rather on the testimony of a woman who claims that 36 years ago, at a party 4 boys, wait, 2 boys committed an attack on her. She claims to have no contemporaneous information(he however had exonerating documentation of his whereabouts), witnesses deny her claim and her story has changed repeatedly. The FBI, having performed 6 Background checks never even got the HINT of such behavior.

Prior to Kavanaugh's selection, Democrats were in battle mode, vowing to stop this nomination with every tool at their disposal. I believe they thought they would show America that they were the party to STOP TRUMP and the GOP voters would be demoralized, the Dem based energized and the blue wave would sweep away all the allies of President Donald Trump.

But something happened along the way to that great blue wave, the Dem's over reached. They pushed absurd stories with the help fo ever tabloid muck slinging lawyer Avenetti about "Rape Trains" They demanded absurd delays to voting, FBI probes till the end of time. While the talking point "There are so many pages of information being withheld!" it's hard to take seriously those concerns when facing real facts such as the fact Judge Kavanaugh has submitted more answers to more questions than any Judge ever nominated, released more papers than what I think it was the last 4 justices combined had too. Been through HOURS of testimony.

What I think really sunk this tactic was how clear it's been to fair minded Americans that instead of actual care about the rule of law, innocent until proven guilty and following tried and true processes, Sen. Feinstein's decision to drop this on the hearing after it was all said and done came off as shady, under handed and their star witness while providing a compelling story the longer this drags on the more holes in her claims appear.

The sleeping masses of GOP voters are fired up, the Dem voters are demoralized.

I believe with certainty the GOP will hold the House and Senate, the blue wave, like the certainty of President Hillary Clinton is a mirage of wishful thinking. If I'm wrong, I'll admit that I was wrong, the tea leaves were not as I read them. Unless something concrete comes out to prove Judge Kavanaugh really is the rapist/serial sex abuser the Dems have portrayed him as (and I seriously doubt that would happen) Nancy Pelosi's dream of getting the speakership back will be dashed on the rocks of reality.

The Democratic Party suck at politics because they haven't realized yet that they can't keep doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

IOW, the continuous play of identity politics keeps backfiring on them. In this case, it was their despicable and deliberate highjacking of the #Metoo movement...

It's not cool to weaponize feminism using it as a smear campaign against a judge to delay the vote. And that is exactly what they did when they denied Judge Kavanaugh the presumption of innocence. The American voter realized it wasn't 'just a job interview.' It was a concerted deliberate smear, an evil attempt to ruin a good man's life.

Instead, they used brown shirt tactics. "Shut up, men!" "Women should be believed!" Man-shame was common play... The presumption of guilt was prioritized by scumbag politicians who thought they had a right to sell it that way. Well, shame on them. The intelligent voter never bought it for a second... ONLY the worst of the immoral, leftist partisans played along with them. Shame on them.

The Democratic Party's biggest problem is that they underestimate the American voter. They underestimate their decency, and knowledge of the law, that the presumption of innocence should prevail regardless of one's gender. The American voter can see right through their silly charade cloaked in faux outrage. I suggest the Democratic clowncar regroup, leave the acting to actors, tuck their tails between their legs, and get back to representing the people.

TBH Both parties suck, but I'd much rather vote Republican than Democrat.

And once again, a woman who has been sexually assaulted is to blame. You make me want to ****ing vomit. Poor poor sexual deviant Kavanagh.

Yeah, um, there are now 15 GOP seats that Cook rates as almost certain to flip to the DNC, and there are still 30 Republican toss-ups the right will have to defend. As far as the House goes, the GOP don't look to have anywhere near the numbers to survive.

Trump has awakened a lot of people that normally don't vote to become engaged with the DNC and vote. That's why even when the Republicans pulled out all of the stops in Ohio, Virginia, Alabama, Pennsylvania special election they still lost all but Ohio - only hanging on to it by a hair.

IMHO, I don't believe for a second the GOP/Trumpazze base wasn't going to rally round the family once the election was a month out. They've stood by Trump through everything, and have been going to the polls everytime Trump told them to, yet still doing incredibly poor.

I think that impartial observers respectfully disagree.

The Democrats will no doubt take the House (with the help of some voters who are not citizens).

The next two years should be lots of fun as the Democrats try to chase the President from office. (The fake news media are salivating at this prospect.)

Who knows? They may even find an excuse to kick out a President Pence.

Then say hello to President Pelosi.

And once again, a woman who has been sexually assaulted is to blame. You make me want to ****ing vomit. Poor poor sexual deviant Kavanagh.

Umm...perhaps it would be more correct to state "a woman who has ALLEGED being sexually assaulted is to blame."

But even then it oversimplifies. This woman also has a very shaky, ever-modifying story with major holes in it.

Moreover, as time passes other information comes out undermining her credibility, which doesn't seem to get much play in the "White Knight" elements of our Free Press.

Then there is the strange desire in many to believe a victim morphing into the accused in now presumed guilty and HE has to show he did not do it.

It is very possible Ms. Blasely-Ford is telling the truth.

It is also very possible that she is not, or that she is mistaken.

However, your own bias in calling Mr. Kavanaugh a "sexual deviant" on no more evidence than this accusation indicates you don't really care.

A lot of you will either shut up or gloat once your little flawed Justice is confirmed. The Dems, particularly Dem women, will be the ones fired up. Most analysis suggests that the battle has helped the GOP in the Senate, but further exposed vulnerable incumbents in the House.

Can’t wait to be here on election night.

I'm not really convinced that this is the case. What I'm seeing here in AZ is that Democrats are registering new voters at a rate of 3:1 over Republicans. What I'm seeing is that Democrats are incredibly pissed off at the Trump administration and are willing to go to whatever lengths they believe are necessary to rectify what they see as an assault on everything they hold important. They really aren't concerned about going overboard or punching below the belt to get what they want. They believe, with some justification, that their base appreciates that "fighting spirit".

Bear in mind that being a liberal progressive means you believe that life, economy and politics are all a zero sum game. They believe that there can only be one winner in any contest and that any concession made to accommodate a competing plan is a "loss" for their side. The Republicans are up against hard line fanatics who aren't the least bit concerned to utterly destroy them. It's a fight that I still don't think most Republicans realize they are in.

I agree with this. We don't know what happened. These are allegations.

What annoys me is when conservatives claim this was some kind of orchestrated smear campaign. Many liberals have gone down due to similar allegations. It's just the time we're in. Our culture's attitude towards women is changing for the better.

If this event didn't happen, Trump would have used something else to get the base worked up.

Somewhere there would have been a black man taking a knee. Or there would have been a black man who had the audacity to become POTUS, so obviously not born in the USA...and a Muslim to boot! Or there would have been yet another innocent black man shot by the police, and Trump would attack BLM when they protested. Or a Latino would have committed a murder. Or a Muslim somewhere would have broken the law.

Or a woman would claim to have been sexually assaulted by a powerful white man.

The point is, whenever Trump needs to energize the base, he makes a racist attack on non-whites, or he attacks women. And the base always gets energized. It's Trump's shtick, and the base loves it, so he only needs to find someone the base wants to see attacked and he's golden. 5 minutes reading posts from Trump supporters on this forum makes it perfectly clear who Trump should attack, it's not rocket science.

There's plenty of research on the subject if you don't believe me.. You can start here, with links to two studies published in prestigious peer reviewed journals:

Research Finds That Racism, Sexism, and Status Fears Drove Trump Voters

Sexual assault is hard to prove. You're rarely ever going to get that definitive proof so one must come to conclusions based-on common sense, witness testimony and circumstance. Weighing all of these factors, to me, unequivocally, Kavenaugh is guilty. There is no way she'd forget who assaulted her. No way.

<Wall of text saying Democrats will lose because Kavanaugh snipped>

Unlike you, people who tend to vote Democrat do not automatically insist that there is a vast liberal conspiracy to victimize conservatives every time someone comes forward to accuse a conservative. They also do not automatically insist that sexual assault charges are always bogus attempts to ruin men's lives. And they most certainly do not claim that they are bogus attempts when a conservative is accused by are perfectly legitimate when a Democrat is accused, as a good little GOPer might.

So, your entire premise is fundamentally flawed.

If there is any disadvantage, it is that by nominating a problematic candidate to SCOTUS (unlike Gorusch, who did not face these troubles) Trump has laid out bait, which if taken would help take the light off Trump's horrible Presidency and the investigation that keeps nabbing more criminals in Trump's orbit.

But, no, Democrats definitely do not lose out with their supporters by refusing to automatically brand Ford a liar.

Now, if the GOP failed to so brand her, then they would lose out among their supporters.

So by your logic none of the priests who have raped little boys should ever have been charged, unless they actually admitted to the crimes beforehand. Is this correct?

So by your logic none of the priests who have raped little boys should ever have been charged, unless they actually admitted to the crimes beforehand. Is this correct?

Not at all. we have patterns of repeated behavior with those guys and we are talking hundreds of people who all experienced the same issue.
Here we have a man that has had his life picked over numerous times by the FBI.

in his DC court appointment they interviewed 160 people according to the articles. it took over 2 years and they found nothing.
that is a lot of time and a lot of people and they were asked the same questions. His drinking and drug habits his sex habits and everything else.

none of this stuff ever came up. which is why it makes it hard to believe.
what also makes it hard to believe is their inconsistent testimonies.

what also makes it hard to beleive is that they both have named eye witnesses that can't support their accusations.

Wishful thinking, nope in 5 weeks you will find out what the voters really think.
