Under four inches is legal in Florida. I always have mine, though not primarily for self defense. It comes in handy as a tool every day.

The natural right to self defense must include access to means.

“Knife Rights”... I guess there is a group politically ranked under the save the spotted owl society.

Last year my home state of Texas got rid of all the “illegal knife” laws. I did not know that until just now when I looked it up. Now I can finally carry a double edged karambit. Woo hoo!

Anybody for knife rights? People should be allowed to own and carry knives for self defense and as all around cutting tools. The fact that knives should be banned and/or regulated is absurd and atrocious. Anybody who is with me should join the knife rights movement.

Here in lovely and relatively safe NYC, citizens are limited to knives with blades under 2 7/8 inches except at home or the workplace for specific purposes. Therefore, I carry three 2 1/2" blades balanced for throwing in a sleeve sheath on my left arm, a one handed opener 2 7/8 pocket knife sharpened like a razor, and my trusty knobbed Irish blackthorn cane, my beretta in my ankle holster, and a custom belt buckle with a quick release that works as both brass knuckles and a skull crusher, solid silver, weighing in at 2.8 lbs. I can still crack a skull, break an arm or leg, crush a throat with my blackthorn.

My father carried two hand carved hickory canes, one hollowed out, filled with lead. He needed one cane for walking, but thought it made him look like an easy target. Two young men tried to mug him, he killed one, turned the other into a vegetable. He had been taking a walk while waiting for my mother to drive her home after bingo. Police escorted him home. Police gave her the car keys, never asking if she could drive. She didn't. My younger brother had to take a bus to get her, drive her and the car home. She didn't forgive my father for getting caught for two weeks. The next day tabloid headlines showed one young man killed another critically wounded in gang fight. Of course the medals and ribbons he wore on one side of his vest, and the ones he bought in pawn shops on the other side of his vest had nothing to do with his treatment by police. That was 1966. When I came home for leave, he bragged to me for four hours over one beer. One crappy Schaefer beer, he was buying, the cheap old bastard. :)

Why must it be under four inches? If knives in FL have to be under four inches you probably wouldn't be able to buy a decent sized hunting or camping knife in FL or even certain kitchen knives.

I am with you.

We just had some knife rights reform here in Texas last year. It is much better now.
Knife laws are probably the weirdest on record.

Public concealed carry, blade length alone. Presumably one employs a folding knife.

Ditto. I have a CRKT EMT knife I use every day on various things.
Sometimes, though, it is a comfort knowing it is there.
Being able to cut a stuck seat belt or bash in a window may be life saving one day.
Though i keep a Barong in the back seat just because.

Wow, I just researched this. It's true.

This country is going to hell in a handbasket.

Trump World, America's Dark Ages.

I could get fancy, Lord knows I spend money on less deserving tools, but I like the Gerber Para model. It's a bit heavy but very easy to clean. A few years ago it had a shaky locking mechanism but that was changed to a proper lock. I would not have trusted it backhanded before (it would close if smacked on a table), now that's safe.

Edit: sorry if the pic is crazy size. I'm computer illiterate.

...so the world was all ginger peachy until you made your internet search on KNIFE LAWS.
Man, that world you live in is certainly fragile, isn't it.

PS...Trump had nothing...absolutely NOTHING to do with the reform of our Texas knife laws.
It was democacy in action that did it.
Concerned citizens changed stupid laws.

...a terrible thing....right?
...citizens active in changing laws that affect them...the horror.

You would LOVE the CRKT locking mechanism. It is so tight it feels like a fixed blade.

This is mine. That little tit on the end is tungsten for smashing car windows and that wing sticking out is so you can cut a seat belt without opening the knife.
It is built like a tank.

You are not a very reasoned nor logical chap is how I read this post.

Your read is 100% correct.

When people blame Trump for their milk going sour, or Texas knife Law reform, I dismiss them on the outset.
This reform would have been signed even if Hillary had won.

Blaming its success on Trump is neither reasonable nor logical.
WE changed the law. Washington had nothing to do with it.

However, you are free to despair about its success if you like.

I have a little Gerber I keep 24/7 in the watch pocket of my jeans. Been doing that now for over 30 years.
It is so light, it feels like a feather.

I also have a mini Gerber Para. It's a second or convenient table tool.

I love my knife, sword, spear, and bayonet collection.
Though the two I mentioned are the only ones i use daily.
Something reassuring about cold steel in your hand.

Nah. I've had to fight with mine. I don't want that ever again.

Understood completely.
I have never had to do that.
Glad you made it through.
That experience certainly would change someone's outlook on it all, wouldn't it.

I am sure if i had to run someone through with one of my assegis my attitude would be different too.

Nice....I also carry a bright orange CRKT EMT and a Gerber Splice multi tool....you simply do not realize how often you use them until you dont have them.
