Well? Why should I? She has provided absolutely no proof of her allegations. She's mentioned two other people that were there and both have denied it happened. She says she can't remember the house that it happened at. She can't remember when it happened. No one else has come out against Kavanaugh on this having actually happened or a separate instance of it happening. One woman says that she "heard a rumor" but has denied knowing if anything actually happened. She has repeatedly tried to stall the testimony hearing making ridiculous demands such as not allowing Kavanaugh in the room and demanding that he testify first. Demands which obviously are intended to simply push the date of the hearing back farther and farther.

And then there is the suspicious nature of when and how this was released. Her history was scrubbed. She took a lie detector test in July. Wrote and sent Feinstein a letter in July. Hired lawyers at the beginning of August. Yet...doesn't come out until AFTER the confirmation hearings are done and over with THIS month. Surely even the most partisan of partisans could admit that such looks suspicious.

So...why should I believe Ms. Ford?

Re: Why should I believe Dr. Ford?

Because if you don't then Kavanaugh will be appointed to the supreme court and all our rights will be taken away as we transition to a medieval style theocracy.

Or so I've been told.

You shouldn't...and she knows it.

Nobody expects anybody to believe her allegations. They just want to delay the confirmation. And if they can't delay it, they want to taint a Supreme Court Justice.

Political games. Nothing more.

Re: Why should I believe Dr. Ford?

Because men can't believe that women might not be that into them.

Re: Why should I believe Dr. Ford?

What in the world does this have to do with the topic of the thread?

Because you asked why Ford should be believed.

Re: Why should I believe Dr. Ford?

Well, why should she be believed? Your response has nothing to do with Ford. It is simply a disparagement of men. If that is all you've got for a reason that I should believe her then I'll laugh and dismiss it as we have no evidence what so ever that Kavanaugh thinks that way.

So sensitive you are.

I think a more salient question is this:

What is the proper standard when it comes to believing an accusation of sexual assault when you do not personally know either the accuser or the accused?

Should we presume the accusation of sexual assault is true until the accuser are proven to be dishonest? Should we presume that an accusation is untrue until the accused is proven to be dishonest? Should we withhold judgment until corroborating evidence is presented?

Evidence. That has always been the proper standard. Simple accusations alone are not enough.

Re: Why should I believe Dr. Ford?

No. I seem to be more rational than you. I don't think with a p****.

Nor do I think with a dick. You can't even give me a valid reason why I should believe Ms. Ford. All you can do is throw out an emotionalist statement disparaging men in general that you can't even prove applies to Kavanaugh. More rational? No. More emotional? Your posts in this thread say "yes".

If I may, Parrish, what is your standard for believing whether an accusation of sexual assault (or worse) is true or not? Let us leave aside Kavanaugh, or Ellison, or Moore, or anyone else recently charged of horrible sexual impropriety, and the partisanship that comes with bringing these examples up. When you look at a charge of sexual misconduct against someone you do not know by someone who you do not know, what does it take for you to believe the charge?

No I don't think it looks suspicious at all. If she was out two weeks before spouting all types of theories like all you on the right are doing now. Then yes, I would think that's suspicious, but she hasn't even given an interview to any major media organization. No Television news network and she doesn't have any social media that I am aware of. In fact, it looks exactly like someone getting good solid legal advice. Someone who thought carefully about their options. Someone who ISN'T partisan. Maybe the name sparked something in her once she heard about his confirmation. Remember, not everyone follows this stuff as closely as we do. In my mind, she still sounds traumatized. She didn't want this to be turned into creepy circus of old white guys telling her what she should do. And that's exactly what it's turning out to be. Yet she still is holding her ground. Doing no interviews until the testimony on Thursday. That takes courage in this day and age.

This is in stark contrast compared to say, the Stormy Daniels strategy. The same people criticizing Dr. Ford were criticizing Stormy Daniels for being an attention whore who was being exploited by her lawyer. With ideas like that being spread, no wonder women feel like they can't win in this country.

Re: Why should I believe Dr. Ford?

What in the world does this have to do with the topic of the thread?

on this board, FB, and other boards, i see angry women who are projecting their own issues onto this confirmation hearing. One FB thread which has turned into an angry hissing fit of Trump hating women is permeated with "i was raped, assaulted, abused, etc and thus she is truthful" nonsense. We are seeing Kavanaugh serving as the surrogate abuser for every woman who was actually abused, perceived she was abused or claims she was abused and who did not get the justice they demanded. They see Kavanaugh as their rapists, their date rapist, the guy who patted their butt at a party or even the guy who didn't call back the next day after a one night stand. Hence the level of incredibly fact resistant nonsense that has nothing to do with the complete lack of supporting evidence for Ford. And if you have the temerity to point out the man's reputation is such that Ford best come up with something more, the claws come out and the women howling for their pound of flesh see you as not defending Kavanaugh or concepts of fairness and the standard of innocence until guilt is conclusively proven-but rather as someone aiding and abetting the man who did the person -you are arguing with-wrong.

the personalization of this issue by the Kavanaugh hating women (and some of the men who deem themselves victimized women) is out of control.

Come on out of your shell Turtle. It's 2018. The era of #metoo. Oh wait. I think you fail to even comprehend the meaning of #metoo. You probably think all these women are making up all these stories and you think that all the rich white guys are stepping away from the top high powered jobs because the libs are beating them????

It takes two months to get good legal advice? That must be some crappy lawyers then... Especially with Feinstein helping her. And whats with the ridiculous demands? Kavanaugh testifying first? Not being allowed to face his accuser? Since when was that EVER kosher?

In any case, nothing you said shows why I should believe her. Again, she has not provided any sort of proof. No one else has stepped up to corroborate her story either about her situation itself or via someone coming out about a separate instance. She can't remember the place or time that this allegedly happened. Even if we took out what I believe to be suspicious and what you think isn't suspicious...why should I believe her?

What does the Senators being old and white men have to do with anything? If they were old black men, or old East-Asian men, would she be any more comfortable?

I will not answer for TurtleDude, NeverTrumpGOP, but enough women lie about rape and sexual assault for a variety of reasons such that simply giving unquestioning credence to any accusation is a dangerous proposition.

This latest bit of news won't help you to believe her:

Third Named Witness Rejects Kavanaugh’s Accuser’s Allegations

In written testimony sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee, a third named witness has rejected the allegations made by Judge Kavanaugh’s accuser. Having been asked by a Senate staffer to comment on the charges advanced against the nominee, a lawyer for Leland Ingham Keyser wrote:

Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford.

and you get upset when people are skeptical that you actually have anything in common with the GOP. This sounds like more crap we hear from the far left

I guess you missed this then?

The anonymous woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault has come forward...Research psychologist Christine Blasey Ford told the Washington Post she decided to come forward after hearing misrepresentations of her account and being approached by the press.
https://www.businessinsider.com/christine-blasey-ford-accuses-brett-kavanaugh-sexual-assault-2018-9

That was on 09/16/18.

Her letter was also "leaked" to the news sometime before that.

Re: Why should I believe Dr. Ford?

With the recent news that her lifelong friend isn't corroborating her story and says she didn't even know Kavanaugh, her whole story falls apart. History will not be kind. Hopefully, there will be a secondary investigation into ther and Feinstein's shenanigans. She may be innocent and something may have happened to her all those years ago, but she was used and spit out by the liberal hate machine.
