A New Hampshire state lawmaker on Friday shared her experience of sexual assault in response to President Trump's tweet questioning why Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, didn't come forward with her allegations decades ago when she said the incident took place.

State Sen. Martha Hennessey (D) wrote on Facebook Friday that she was sexually assaulted in front of "a dozen" classmates more than 40 years ago as a student at Dartmouth College.
===============================================
She stated that false rumors spreading around the college forced her to stay silent for years.

There are countless accounts of women who don't come forward. Women for decades have been shamed into silence and called liars. When they come forward they are called liars, whores, sluts by their communities and even their families. LE doesn't do much in most cases unless there is severe physical abuse as well. When they don't come forward people wonder why they didn't come forward.

Where I come from, even hinting at treating a girl disrespectfully is likely to get ya hurt.

Trump bragged about sexually assaulting women. How many of those women filed police reports? He knows women often stay quiet. Or at least he would know, if he used his brain for storing and accessing information at anything higher than his usual reptilian level.

Lol, letting him grope them = sexual assault?

Explain?

CONCORD, N.H. —

For 42 years, state Sen. Martha Hennessey told only her family and closest friends about an assault she suffered at the hands of a male classmate at Dartmouth College. On Friday, the Hanover Democrat, mother of three and grandmother of five came forward.

Hennessey, 65, posted on her Facebook page that she was assaulted while attending a birthday party at a fraternity house in 1976 while about a dozen other students stood and watched.

She told WMUR in an interview that she was “thrown around” by the classmate, who she declined to identify but, she said, is now a physician.

This sexual predator is now a physician. I'm so glad it worked out for him so well.

I doubt any of them did. I wonder if they were flattered at being assaulted by a TV star?

This sounds much more real, and I'm much more inclined to believe it. Somewhere, there is a physician developing an ulcer wondering if, and when, he's gonna be identified...

Responded to the wrong thread. Whoops

Knowing his probable age & graduating from Dartmouth, it would be pretty easy to ID him since he probably lives & practices in NH.

The term “sexual assault” means any nonconsensual sexual act proscribed by Federal, tribal, or State law, including when the victim lacks capacity to consent.

As Trump described it on that video clip, he would grab them by their pu**ies. I think that fits the legal definition.

I thought she was accusing Kavanaugh.

I worry that this entire issue could hurt Democrats with men. I'm very sympathetic to the #metoo movement but it's unreasonable to accuse someone 35 years later about something he allegedly did while he was still legally a minor.

The news cycle going into the midterms should be about Trump's incompetence, the op-ed and Woodward's book.

This is not a winning issue for Democrats. There's a woman out there who claims that Bill Clinton raped her. If we're going to just believe accusations without evidence there's no end to the chaos.

But I think this is the first time I've heard of an accusation regarding behavior in high school.

This was at Dartmouth College, not a high school.

He said they let him.

And they said they didn't.

See the problem???

I do. Big grey area. They never said "No, stop, please don't" out of fear of perceived possible repercussions, and he figured, out of blind, disgusting ego, that they were letting him.

If he goes to jail for that, who's the victim?

If nothing happens at all, who's the victim?

Its an issue, for sure.
