Black Student: My question is, do you support granting citizenship and American-paid benefits to illegal aliens who violated our country to come here, who fly their foreign flags here, who have citizenship in their countries and whose families did absolutely not build this country, while black people are subject to things that you explained before? You can answer yes or no, please. [Emphasis added]

Beto O'Rourke: Many, many people built this country, first of all. And we are a country of many people … and I’m paraphrasing Congressman Lewis at this point, but he said something to the effect that each of us came to this country in a different ship. Some of us came here against our will, some of us immigrated here lawfully … some of us are showing up right now as we speak. They’re fleeing the deadliest countries in the planet today. The northern triangle countries of Central America … imagine how bad things have to be for you to scoop up that six-month-old daughter of yours and to walk 2,000 miles … to refuge in a country that is comprised of people from the world over. And yes, there are some people who did not follow our laws when they came here to be with their families or to work jobs and, in some cases, no one was willing to work in their communities.

I mentioned going to the high school in Roscoe, I also went to the cotton gin in Roscoe. And at that cotton gin, there are 24 jobs and the manager of that gin says it does not matter the wages that I pay or the number of hours that we set … no one born in Roscoe … or Texas or this country who is willing to work. But there are immigrants who are coming from Central America or Mexico or other parts of the world to Roscoe to work these jobs and to help build our economy.

TL; DR

Black Man: Why do you support illegals in this country?

Beto: Because you won't pick cotton.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said, it's completely factual. Americans do not want to do back breaking labor in the field for meager wages. Kicking out the people actually willing to do it aren't going to make Americans start wanting to. You trying to make this about some big "white man tells black man about picking cotton" controversy nonsense makes your agenda painfully obvious.

Also, what the hell kind of "building of this country" did this pompous student do in his short life? Your ancestors' actions do not give you credit and respect, you are responsible only for your own failures and achievements.

Nice attempt at faux controversy.

But the truth is we need the illegal alien workers and yet treat them like trash.

Both Dems and Republicans believe in having immigration policy and enforcement. Obama deported more people than previous presidents. Where were part ways is in treating them like they are subhuman and smearing them as criminals.

1. He didn't say that. If what he said was actually offensive you wouldn't have had to paraphrase it after quoting.

2. No one "picks" cotton in this country anymore. It's harvested with a large machine called a cotton stripper.

Heh, good job supporting a racist.

Irrelevant to your rank dishonesty in this thread.

Please calm down.

LOL. It's funny how quickly you switch tunes when I pull out the old Democrat playbook on Democrats. :lamo

So you're saying that you're just as dishonest and ridiculous as the people that you rant about all day long? In what world does posting that make anything even remotely resembling an argument from you?

Assuming your quote was right...

Beto said that gin manager said that noone in this country would pick cotton for those wages, other than immigrants.

That makes Beto a racist? Or the fact that Beto was responding to Black person?

huh?

I'm using the Democrats logic. When answering a question by a black man for why Beto supports illegal immigrants his example is that there is nobody willing to pick cotton. Had a Republican made that kind of brain fart there would be 17 threads on DP by now by Democrat voters.

I'm saying that I'm proving how dishonest and ridiculous the Democrat outrage machine is by using the same loose tangential argument that they would use against a Republican and watch you come here to shoot holes on your Party's own favorite strategy.

Thanks for playing!

One small problem, Robert "Beto" said, "the manager of that gin says it does not matter the wages that I pay... no one born in Roscoe … or Texas or this country who is willing to work "

Beto literally just claimed that Americans dont want to work no matter the money. Ted Cruz might be a snake but Beto is anti-American

When we visited the cotton gin in Roscoe not too long ago the manager told me he can’t find a single person born in Roscoe or nearby Sweetwater to work there. Same for the farmer in Quanah. Last week we were in Goldthwaite at a restaurant opened by immigrants from Jalisco.

He was asked why he supports illegal immigration and while explaining he used an anecdote about a trip a couple months back to a cotton gin in Roscoe about finding native born workers.

Just because you're salty someone got busted using a "common" saying that no one commonly uses you are looking desperate to find something similar. It's not going to be this one.

What a despicable lie for you to tell.

Beto never said anything like that.

Of course, for someone of your kind, there is almost nothing that cannot be twisted into a platform for pushing the white grievance narrative.

How pathetic of you.

I guess that explains everything Trump does too - he must be using "Democrats logic" as well!

Nice try to weasel out of your own nonsense.

Everything is about race with some people. Are you saying that if the guy asking the question were white the reply would be different?
Pretty thin, flimsy hook you're hanging your arguement on.

Now you're blaming your lame OP on the Democrats? Geez. Are you running for the GOP in November? 'Cause you seem to be rehearsing their usual whine-"It's all the fault of the Democrats! Yeah, we have majorities everywhere that matters but it's still the Democrats fault!"
