the wall man. the guy purported to bring the jobs back to Americans. MAGA

Remember that whole “Make America great again” bull**** that was tied into bringing jobs back to America and blah, blah, blah? It turns out that whole spiel of stopping foreigners from stealing American work didn’t even apply to Trump’s own resorts.

A study by Vox found that out of 144 jobs available at three of the president’s properties, only one was filled by an American, and the other 143 jobs were given to foreign guest workers using H-2B visas.

At this point there are only two groups of people:

1. Trump's cult members
2. Everyone else

Everyone else already knows Trump is a lying con artist. Trump's cult members support him because he's so anti-immigration and anti-political-correctness and don't care about anything else.

Apparently, Americans don't want to work for Trump, either at his hotels or at the White House. Maybe he can issue visas to fill positions on his staff as well.

Trump Properties Needed 144 Employees, so They Hired 143 Foreign Guest Workers and 1 American

Why am I not surprised....
  • Where are Trump branded retail goods made?
    • Apparel (the MAGA hat is made in the U.S.):
      • China,
      • The Netherlands,
      • Mexico,
      • India,
      • Turkey,
      • Slovenia,
      • Honduras,
      • Germany,
      • Bangladesh,
      • Indonesia,

    • Household items:

      • China
      • Slovenia
    • Hotel products
      • China
      • Taiwan
Of course, nobody would give a damn where his stuff is made were he not such a naif tariff advocate and unctuous utterer of "America first" rhetoric.

I don't think Trump has anything to do with hiring at his hotels.

Trump doesn't do the hiring at his hotels. Trump Management approves executive hiring. Staff hiring is farmed out to industry agencies. There's been a massive shortage of hospitality labor in the US for two decades. The majority of both hotel managers and workers are imported from India as hotels upgraded to luxury or near luxury status, along with the lower end and motel markets. This is a world wide issue, not restricted to the US. Even China has found itself importing hotel workers.

The Indian government supports 47 hotel worker schools. Operating much like the nursing schools in the Philippines. Do some research, apparently your sources did not bother.

The international Hotel market, meaning ownership and management contracts, is dominated by investor groups of Indians who migrated to Britain subsequent to Indian Independence and Statehood. Many families of former Maharajas who fled India with massive wealth.

The many international hotels that line Rockaway Boulevard by JFK Airport, are predominantly staffed by imported Indian workers, tho the neighborhood, mostly black residential with an abnormally high unemployment rate, and each has a sign "Hiring, will train" in the main driveway in front of each of the hotels. The same on nearby Woodhaven Blvd, and the hotels near LaGuardia Airport which is mostly Spanish speaking, filled with recent lawful immigrants searching for jobs.

Hospital work pays better, and that is where expansion is absorbing those in the US low end labor market are seeking opening positions. Comparatively, today listings at Weill Cornell Hospital on York and 68th Street in Manhattan shows 32 open positions for cleaning staff. The 32 hotels at JFK show 49 openings. The rooms as Weill Cornell outnumber the 32 hotels by 4-1. Stats provided by the NY Health and Hospitality Workers Union of NY. All it takes is a phone call.

If a $12 hat has your panties in a bunch, I’m glad you have placed your priorities where they belong! Good job! Carry on!

The President has NEVER spoken against those living and working legally in the United States whether or not they are citizens. His complaint is those ILLEGALLY in the country taking jobs that citizens need. And Vox is pretty much too left wing and anti-Trump to accept data from unless they can collaborate it with a less biased source.

How does the question of whether or not rickc personally wants to work in a hotel resolve the issue he raised (beyond supporting it, that is)?

A very common refrain is that illegal immigration is horrible because illegal immigrants steal jobs. And lest one wishes to make a "but illegal!" response, the Trump admin has also been slashing legal means of immigration and/or staying by other lawful means.

The simple fact of the matter is that illegal immigrants generally don't steal jobs because Americans don't want to do the allegedly stolen jobs anyway. See also migrant farm labor.

Red:
What is relevant about what job I (or anyone else responding here) might want?

Aside:
Though I'm sure it's not germane to your question for I suspect you posed the question as an abstraction, I retired this year; thus I don't want any job. It's unlikely I'd ever been willing to work for Trump in any capacity or locale.

So do you want one of those low-paying jobs?

Few Americans do, apparently. If Trump wanted to put his money where his mouth is and hire Americans, he'd have to pay a bit more. Of course, he doesn't want to do that!

Donald Trump declares 'I love the poorly educated'

Surprise surprise.

I don't think Trump has anything to do with hiring at his hotels.

Knowing his personality, I think he has his fingers in everything. Especially since his sons now control the business.

They are here legally. Not what he's talking about.

So do you want one of those low-paying jobs?

SO, should we spend 20 Billion plus maintenance on a wall to keep people from coming here to do them?

Really?

What a crock!

Fly by night companies in Virginia and many other states have dumped American workers for the last 15 years for sub contractors who could give a **** about who works for them as long as they have a North Carolina drivers license or a phony SS card.

Drywall, Roofing, Painting, Cement work, framing, etc. etc. etc.

Drive by any residential or commercial job and see for yourself.

SO, should we spend 20 Billion plus maintenance on a wall to keep people from coming here to do them?

pretty ludicrous plan

when stopping them is as simple as making e verify mandatory and fining Americans who hire them

republicans won't do it because they want that cheap labor here

but that wall sure does play well to that republican redneck base
