Take it from this former spook: It ain’t because they’re concerned about her well-being.

Since her arrest in Washington, D.C., in July, Mariia Butina, the gun-slinging Russian student accused by the U.S. government of being a spy for her Motherland, has been languishing in a jail cell. Earlier this month, in documents arguing Butina should be held in detention because she is a flight risk, prosecutors revealed that Butina has gotten quite a bit of attention from top Russian officials.

According to the prosecution’s filing, the Russian government has conducted six consular visits to Butina and passed four diplomatic notes to the U.S. Department of State about her case. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has spoken twice to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to complain about Butina’s incarceration and prosecution. As prosecutors noted, in the days following Butina’s arrest, the official Kremlin Twitter account changed its avatar to a picture of her and launched #FreeMariaButina. RT—a Russian news outlet funded by the Russian government—has written a number of articles about her, decrying her prosecution and detention. According to prosecutors, “Russia has issued more diplomatic notes on the defendant’s behalf in the past month than for any other Russian citizen imprisoned in the United States in the past year. Put simply, the Russian government has given this case much more attention than other cases.”

A former U.S. intelligence officer is of the opinion that the Russia is more concerned about her as an intelligence asset & the effect of her arrest on ongoing intelligence operations.

Quite the article. Good read. Like a spy novel.

They want handjobs???

Also isn't she right next to Manafort?? Maybe they are taunting him.

What do you think happens when Americans are detained in a foreign country?
U.S. Department of State from the US embassy make visits to check on the welfare of
the US citizen.

U.S. Citizen Services · Consular Agencies

I think Federal lockups put heavy Plexiglass between prisoners & visitors. No room for мастурбирует.

Whole time I am reading it I was thinking, who is supposed to visit her? Greenlanders?

But when ordinary Americans are locked up in foreign countries, they do not get the level of attention Maria Butina has been getting.
There's even a show, "Locked Up Abroad" which is all about Americans and Brits who wind up languishing away in foreign prisons for the crimes they might have committed.

There's a clue in the highlighted part about "other cases" They're paying her distinctly more attention than to other Russians arrested in the USA.

I could give a ****, really. If she is mucking about with election money that comes from Russia, throw the book at her. But saying a Russian is being visited by Russians is the stupidest header ever.

See post 13, please.

It's obvious that you either didn't read the OP or entirely missed my point. She is a high-value Russian intel operative & the Russians are crapping their whatevers to get in to interrogate here. I hope the Feds have it all on tape.

Again, the header was awful, I have no dog in this hunt.

If she did what she is accused of, I hope they throw the book at her.

Tha5t's not what they're saying, as is clear to anyone who can choose to parse a sentence. She's obviously getting special attention over and above what is offered to ordinary citizens.

Wahhh, he isn't choosing to accept the narrative. Go away. Grow a sense of humor.

I'm an American but I doubt that either Mike Pompeo or General Kelly would be complaining to Sergey Lavrov about my incarceration or have Rand Paul come to visit me if I were in a Russian prison. ****ing double duh.

If she wasn't a Russian spy then it would be more likely that her attorney, husband, parents or friends would come visit and not Sergey Lavrov, Russia's top spy. If I had to guess, I would guess that these top Russians are interested because she knows a lot and I'm sure she's aware that her life can be in danger if she gives the FBI information that leads up the chain in the Republican party.

Why is it every liberal fails to read things that disrupt their argument of what they think I am saying?

I do not care, if she is guilty, throw the book at her.

The side note tangent was done with some humor, if you just cant laugh at it, grow a sense of humor or get the **** outside more often, you have become entirely too serious.

Are those in fact the ranks of the Russians visiting her? I'm interested you proving that.

Why don't you try to get out of the habit of **** replying to everyone?

Well, I didn't literally mean Sergey Lavrov visited her in jail personally (duh). Why is Russia taking such an intense interest in Maria Butina? Russian officials would want to make sure she doesn’t give away any information that might compromise Russian intelligence activities. They might even be coaching her on what to say. Even the state-run news agency TASS has reported on these visits. TASS: World - After visiting Butina in US jail, Russian diplomats to send note to Department of State

[snip]WASHINGTON, August 17. /TASS/. Russian diplomats, who visited Russian citizen Maria Butina in a Washington jail on Thursday, described her prison conditions as inadmissible and will send a note of protest to the US Department of State, the Russian embassy in Washington said.
