President Trump on Monday ordered the declassification of several key documents related to the FBI investigation of Russian actions during the 2016 presidential election, including 21 pages of an application for a renewed surveillance warrant against former campaign aide Carter Page, and text messages from disgraced FBI figures Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

It has been said that declassifying these documents is a threat to our National Security as it will give our enemies (especially Russia) information about how we investigated them, meaning they will be able to stop our sources of such information and perhaps even get rid of them.

Some of the Carter Paige information had already been declassified but this information had been reviewed and the recommendation was NOT to declassify.

This seems to be an attempt by Trump to show that the Carter Paige Fisa warrant was illegal but the fact is that the parts in these 21 pages where it shows how the FBI got the FISA warrant have been redacted, meaning that only the parts that Trump wants shown are shown. Nonetheless. the parts that are of interest to our enemies have not.

It seems Trump trying to "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" inasmuch he gives the Russians the information they want but does not give his political enemies (the Democrats) the information that proves the FISA warrant was properly obtained.

Do you agree with this underhanded way of doing things that puts our National Security at risk just for political gain?

Trump is now becoming dangerous. He’s like a monkey with a machine gun.

What is Trump’s purpose in releasing the files? IMHO the result is obstruction of justice at the very least.

Well, hey, who doesn't agree with an underhanded way of putting our National Security at risk for political gain?

It's not underhanded. It is boldface. Whether it puts our national security at risk remains to be seen. The other question is does it put at risk the ability of the justice department to collect confidential information when potential informants know they may be outed if that is seen as politically expedient.

The Democratic Party's War On Truth continues. Of course the documents should be made public.

It's tough no longer being the "most transparent administration in history."

but redacted the way Trump wants? to me, that is not trying to find the truth but make his own truth.

the guy needs togo before the USA is no longer.

The Democratic Party's War On Truth continues. Of course the documents should be made public.

Few political assertions are as laughable as a supporter of the most documented liar in Presidential history accusing Democrats of warring on truth. I happened to see this post at the very moment Trump was lying in a TV interview that investigating Christine Ford's claim of sexual assault is "not something they (FBI agents) do." Background checks of Supreme Court candidates are exactly what they do. Kavanaugh's check has been completed by the FBI and the next question to Trump was whether the investigation should be reopened. Trump answered with another disguised lie, saying the FBI "hadn't asked" but he would be glad to reopen the investigation if the FBI did ask. Of course, it is up to the President "to ask", not the FBI, and the liar is not asking. He doesn't want to know, not that he wouldn't lie about it if he did know.

This has zero to do with the Dem Party and everything to do with Trump risking people's lives for political gain by releasing documents relevant to a currently ongoing investigation he's involved with.

Glad I could clear that up for you.

No, I don't agree. We went through this before with the Nunes memo. Democrats screamed that it would harm national security to declassify it, but when the memo came out we could all see what a bunch of nonsense that was.

I see, now you are the one that determines what is important and classified?

Bottom line, what has been declassified but not "redacted" helps Trump and helps the Russians. The truth is not coming out, only the truth the Republicans want to show.

Typical Mafia tactics.

Typical day on the site. "Independent Voters" = Anti Trumpers

Sorry, don't know what you're talking about.

I can guarantee one thing: Allies will be even less willing to share classified information with the USA. Not one of them trusts Trump to keep the information secret, and I bet that includes Putin, who knows better than anyone what an idiot Trump is, well "Useful Idiot" in that case.

That is obviously bad for the security of the USA, so the answer is "Yes."

No, I don't agree.

DNI Coates will be the one who determines exactly what gets unredacted. He will explain himself to the President. I see no reason to think that either Trump will overrule Coates or that Coates will allow truly dangerous stuff to be unredacted. Furthermore, Congressmen who have seen the unredacted FISA application have stated that, in their opinion, much that is redacted does NOT pose a security risk but is information that the public deserves to see. I'll leave it up to Coates and Trump to make that determination.
