GOP Senator Flake from Arizona is breaking from the GOP with the Kavanaugh nomination. He is demanding more information about Kavanaugh with this sex scandal with Mrs Ford. Flake is not up for reelection and has been a sore point with the Trump White House. Without his support, the Republicans cannot lose another Republican senator.

Sen Flake is more than likely going to vote for Kavanaugh. Requesting more information and being through about vetting the judge does not necessarily translate into a NO vote. Regardless of how Flake feels about Trump he is still a conservative republican first and foremost. This nomination is an opportunity to place a conservative justice on the court and the Senator knows it.

If Jeff Flake is such a conservative, he understood he could not get renominated for the senate in Arizona. He is only the second senator of Arizona that only served as a one term senator. He is only asking for more time to understand the facts. He is pushing for more time, and, I do not see with his announcement he would back down with a simple vote to get it out of the way. The longer it takes to get nominated, the more it looks like he will fail to be confirmed.

Interesting fellow, Jeff Flake. I find his birthplace to be fascinating due to the current political climate. (Snowflake Az)

I think it's appropriate to request more information under the circumstances.

Since Feinstein had this letter since July and had the opportunity to present it. Since this is an allegation made by a woman with no witnesses, who can't remember how she got to the party, or whos house it was at, or how she got home. It was an OBVIOUS attempt to sabotage the confirmation process until after the midterms, nothing more.

The Judiciary Committee has 11 Republicans and 10 Democrats. Neither the Constitution nor the Senate rules require Supreme Court nominees to have a successful committee vote before the nomination heads to the floor.

In 1991, the Senate Judiciary Committee deadlocked 7-7 to send the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to the floor with a favorable recommendation. The committee then voted 13-1 give Thomas no recommendation.

The Senate later voted to confirm Thomas, 52-48.

Dirty politics are certainly involved by the Democrats. If the shoe were on the other foot republicans would do the same.

How do you explain that this woman made the allegation in 2012 to her shrink during a session. The accusation merits scrutiny.

Look at his record on the issues. He is a conservative. Calling President Trump out for his vitriol doesn’t change his ideology.

He's a lame duck breathing his last dying breaths. He has nothing to lose by sandbagging his fellow Republicans for the purpose of sticking it to Trump.

He learned his lesson well from his mentor...McCain.

As a man and a father the staggering inability for men to deal with issues of this sort with even the slightest bit of empathy for a victim in this case just on a human scale is unbelievable. Why don't you just yell "UGG", hit women over the head with a club and drag them into the kitchen to cook or bedroom for other pleasures. They would do just as well to say that is how they thing the world should work, years after women's suffrage, years and years and years from white men of property being considered the only actual "citizens" of this country.

I just cannot believe how laughably obtuse many if not most men still are, how completely detached they are. There is gender but there is humanity as well or at least their should be. Using the fact that the victim did not mention this incident at all until 2012 is just idiotic. What if she had only mentioned it for the first time 1 month ago. What would the Senate Republicans be saying then? Do they have any concept of how a victim would feel? How remote the likelihood that even in 2018 the first thing a 17 year old female victim would do would be to come forward? But I will say this, she is willing to testify now. Good look to those old codger Republicans, Grassley, Hatch, Cornyn and then complete idiots like Cruz looking like anything other than the fools they are questioning this woman. They are going to look like a joke because they are a joke. They are as far away from any semblance of humanity as it gets.

Even the men on the Dem side of the panel are likely to look like fools up there and frankly maybe that after all is what comes out of her giving testimony...that they are all a bunch of heartless, inhuman jerks, a combination of an 80 year olds curiosity with a 4th graders intellect.

That is true history. Still the narrative with conservatives is having a war on women. Having him on the court with a 51-49 vote, conservatives will look like they are having a war on women for two generations then a political cycle. The future is female and she is under the age of 30 with a college education or will get a college education. Pushing him onto the court, will change that factor with or without a education.

and?

this is how the game "politics" is played

If we could get rid of the game we would have had a judge seated under Obies last year.

BTW, I do not think two wrongs make a right, I think all this crap has to stop.

In Trumpland, this crap has been jacked up on steroids.

Trump World, the American armageddon?

No, voters have an attention span measured in weeks.

The Republicans have NEVER tried such a sickening sexual assault "smear" campaign against a USSC nominee.

Try to justify the Sleazocrat lies SOME OTHER WAY. Sorry.
