A recent poll found a 10 percent increase in the number of Nike customers versus the general public who say a company should take a stand on social issues.

President Donald Trump has made his name from sales of everything from suits to steak, but this is his first time selling sneakers — even though that probably wasn’t his intention.

Nike sales jumped by 31 percent after debuting quarterback-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick as a new company spokesman — and market observers say the president’s public displays of anger may have backfired by drawing more attention to Nike.

Thanks for the free advertising, Donald. Kaepernick needs the money since you pressured the NFL owners into blackballing him. They may be burning sneakers in Peoria but Nike's sales are soaring.

Yeah, that was some wicked smart marketing strategy. I’m all for corporations doing well and from now on Nike will be exempt from most criticism.

Fake news headline. The study actually showed "online sales of Nike products jumped 31 percent" - not Nike sales as a whole. And I'd guess that sales through Nike.com are a very small piece of the pie.

This hopefully improves Colin's prospects of getting hired on as a backup QB by some smart team owner who isn't afraid of The Donald. It's a shame to have to watch a talented athlete have his career ended by a politician with axes to grind. This entire disrespecting the anthem thing is just a typical Trumpian distraction.

Wow, it's even worse than I thought, most of this jump in sales occurred before the ad campaign was even announced:

"According to data from Edison Trends, online sales of Nike products jumped 31 percent between the Sunday before and the Tuesday after Labor Day"

Despite Outrage, Nike Sales Increased 31% After Kaepernick Ad

Despite the backlash in the wake of Nike’s endorsement deal with Colin Kaepernick, the sportswear company has seen a 31% increase in online sales, according to one outside estimate.

Nike sales grew 31% from Sunday through Tuesday over the Labor Day holiday this year compared with the previous year, according to Edison Trends.

AFTER the ad.

Who would of guessed old angry white men aren't Nike's bread and butter.

Nike Sales Increase 31 Percent After Controversial Colin Kaepernick Ad Campaign Debuts

Nike’s sales have gone up amid a backlash over the 30th-anniversary “Just Do It” campaign starring Colin Kaepernick, the football player who started the #TakeAKnee movement in 2016.

The brand’s sales increased 31 percent from Sunday through Tuesday over Labor Day, according to Edison Trends. During Labor Day 2017, sales increased 17 percent, the company reported.

It would seem that a lot of people believe in taking a stand instead of using the politics of distraction to ruin an athlete's career.

Only blacks and liberals will buy those ugly effing shoes. The white anglo saxon conservatives sure won't.

Free advertising, negative or not, can be a wonderful thing - it surely helped get Trump elected POTUS.

He would already would have been hired by a team if his talent and performance outweighed his cost. It's basic business, not social justice.

I have to say, I'm a white Anglo-Saxon (Scottish decent actually but close enough) conservative and I have a pair on right now. Will I buy another pair? Maybe. These should last a long time since I just bought them about 6 months ago.

Race, for me, has nothing to do with Kaepernick or his protest bull**** because for me what he's doing is an insult to the country as a whole and those that serve the nation, but race does seem to matter for Nike but I don't think it matters more than just the way they are targeting a core group of consumers of their products - and as far as them doing that, I don't care. Companies market to target demographics all the time. Burger King and McDonald's spend a tremendous amount of money marketing to blacks, as do many other companies, if they feel it's in their best financial interest. However, Nike walked a thin line with potentially alienating people that are patriotic, which again, has nothing to do with race, so there are numerous influences here, not just race or patriotism.

I don't have any problem with marketing, but I have a major problem with Nike comparing a self-righteous millionaire to those that sacrificed all for the flag, anthem, and country that CK says he can't respect or stand for. Companies create marketing campaigns that try to increase sales and market share within certain demographics. That's just good business. It's not going to stop me from wearing something I've already paid for, but it may stop me from buying more.

"ONLINE SALES" not OVERALL SALES, which account for about FIVE PERCENT of NIKE's overall sales.

Didn't bother to read YOUR OWN LINK???

And After the initial 4% drop in stocks Nike has bounced back 2.4% and on the upward trend....It will be interesting how this turns out for Nike....

Which is nothing like the "31% increase in sales" the OP is lying about.

It will be like the Red Hen...and initial "sugar high" of leftist support, and then REALITY will set in and it will hurt them, domestically, but not as much in much of the rest of the America-hating world.

Keapernick still isn't smart enough to understand that "anti-American" is how he perceived except by OTHER anti-Americans.

Where did you get the idea that it is Trump keeping this douchebag from being hired in the NFL?

You have no idea on way or the other....Nike is a big international company, not just U.S.....Their online sales are up 31% and their stocks have bounced back up 2.4%...That is what we know.

It appears AmeriCAN's are voting, with their wallets, about freedom of speech and whom should be FIRED.

LOL! So if I say I will take away a bunch of your income because you have funny hair.. then that is not a threat?.. especially if in the case of Trump, he can actually do it?
