[W:168]Trump's approval rating drop looks real, and it could be a disaster for the GOP in 2018

Re: Trump's approval rating drop looks real, and it could be a disaster for the GOP in 2018

That being said the GOP won't see a problem until it's below 30%, and even then, I'm surprised it took this long. Could it be that not everyone was thinking about politics/voting until now???? How stupid is that!

I think you're basing the 30% figure on W. Bush's sudden political vulnerability once he hit 28%. I don't think that could happen now as I believe that tribalism is significantly worse now than it was then. What the Republican base was unable to forgive Bush for they've forgiven Trump for to a much, much greater degree.

Re: Trump's approval rating drop looks real, and it could be a disaster for the GOP in 2018

Sadly, as the world becomes more estranged from God the leftist democrats in America see a rise in support from among the ungodly.

plz keep YOUR god out of this. Your BELIEFS here are irrelevant.

Re: Trump's approval rating drop looks real, and it could be a disaster for the GOP in 2018

Bill Clinton got destroyed his first midterm.

Bush didn't fare well either.

Obama got absolutely obliterated.

That's what historically happens.

I'll betcha November disappoints though. Not a blue wave at all, just a mild and typical pendulum swing.

2020 still looks really bad for Democrats.

And Cavanaugh will be in place. Probably Ginsburg's replacement, too. So mission accomplished.

So that's where I heard that number before??? I was a teenager much throughout Bush's Presidency. I didn't follow it much back then, just some. lolz

Are you trying to equate support for Trump as a godly thing? :lamo. Seriously what conservative values are "christ like"?

Yup, that's where the number comes from. It became legendary because 9/11 propelled Bush to god-like levels of approval (88.4% -- unthinkable in today's context) and he fell to rock bottom because he appeared callous in the aftermath of a hurricane. Again, an unthinkable reason to lose approval in today's context, especially seeing as Trump has repeated Bush's callousness countless times already.

Another thing that's important to remember is that unlike Trump, Bush wasn't a populist. In other words, he wasn't sent to Washington "to destroy the establishment." When you've weaponized a candidate "to be a missile and aim it at Washington," you can forgive him for just about anything because destruction was always his purpose.

I vote for Romney because I knew he was scandal free (just rich) and a patriot. Bush is a patriot. Mr. Swampy is full of scandals and is not a patriot.

You have zero idea of what he is investigating, but the majority of voters want this investigation to be completed, and not cut short.

No I don't. I'm fairly sure it's not Trump - Russia. That horse has left the barn.

he could go on fox and do naked cartwheels, and it would not affect his core base. they will Tiger Beat love him for the rest of their lives. the rest of us have to show up and vote against.

He could also have record low unemployment numbers and a booming economy resulting from deregulation and tax cuts and the core "resistance" would also be unaffected.

The House GOP should worry about Trump'''s approval drop - CNNPolitics

“Trump's approval rating drop looks real, and it could be a disaster for the GOP in 2018
Analysis by Harry Enten, CNN
Updated 7:44 AM EDT, Wed September 05, 2018

(CNN) A new ABC News/Washington Post poll puts President Donald Trump's approval rating at just 36%. An IBD/TIPP poll also puts the President's approval rating at 36%. Finally, a Kaiser Family Foundation poll gives Trump an approval rating of 37%. All three are declines from the last poll by each pollster, which had Trump's approval rating in the low 40s.

We don't know if this is the beginning of a trend or not...

But if there is a trend emerging of Trump's approval rating dropping into the 30s, it's very bad news for House Republicans heading into the midterm elections.”

Looks like the only supporters Trump has are the bottom of the barrel, the poorly educated, and the white supremacists. Yanno....’deplorables’.

You should probably look to Nate Silver who has gathered dozens of polls from likely or registered voters, instead of doing your usual mocking of Trump supporters while cherry picking a few unfavorable polls.
Polled voters put him at 41.3%

Call me crazy, but I'm just slightly uncomfortable with impulsive children playing with nuclear weapons. You are correct, however. He has not yet ruined the good economy that he inherited, and his tax cut for the wealthy has given it a temporary coke bump.

The issue is that Independents and left-of-center voters see no reason to credit Trump with a trend that started long before him, whereas Trump's base decided that the economy was amazing the day after the election.

This goodwill on the part of Republicans is wasted. The only people who believe Trump is actually responsible for the economic trend would have voted Republican anyway.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 47% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance.

We won't hear the O/P mention that one. ;)

TBH, Trump's most accurate approval ratings come from dozens upon dozens of polls coming from likely or registered voters. I always rely on statician Nate Silver's numbers.

Even if we accepted a cherry-picked poll that has always been the top outlier, you're still bragging that the majority of the country doesn't like him.

Re: Trump's approval rating drop looks real, and it could be a disaster for the GOP in 2018

As bad as Trump is, I still can't bring myself to vote for a Democrat. Here's the way I see it. Republicans are like a batcrap crazy father, who will beat you to death to get you in line. On the other hand, Democrats are like your overbearing mother, who loves you and will hug you and squeeze you until you suffocate to death. Either way, you are dead. So, when I go into the voting booth, my vote is for parenticide.

Except in presidential elections what matters to me is the SCOTUS and lower federal court picks. These are now being packed by hard-right conservatives that favor corporatism and handmaid tale-like societies over what's good for non-CEO's and people earning less than $5 million annually. That, for me, is why it's important to vote Democratic.

So you dont know, but then again you do know its not trump or Russia.

For one thing, dozens of indictments. Taxes, lying, hookers. Not one time is President Trump mentioned. Russia - Trump campaign was the original mandate.

I said I didn't know for sure. The left seems to be absolutely 100% sure it's just around the corner. Probably even ordered the hats and T shirts.

It really bugs me that Mueller is only keeping Republicans updated on the status of his investigation.

You need only subscribe to the RNC weekly newsletter. Then you too would know what's going on.
