Prosecutors Admit to wrong allegations regarding Maria Butina

And people wonder why other people have a hard time trusting our government.

You may be perfect, never make a single mistake, but other people are not so fortunate.

A mistake happens once, maybe twice. Pushing a story over and over is not a mistake. It is an act done on purpose.

This isn't about being perfect. This is a professional team of prosecutors.

You support a President who lies almost every time he opens his mouth, but no comments about him?

This is not so surprising. A creative prosecutor could charge me with collusion based on my travels to Russia and China. Either of those nations (using our example here with Maria) could charge me as well.

This thread is not about Trump. Thought those that hate Trump also hated whataboutism? Guess that's only when it doesn't serve your purpose eh?

If you are going to knock the government for a mistake why not start at the very top with the liar in chief?

In case you never noticed, people are human, they make mistakes.

Mistake by you number 2. When a story is pushed multiple times that is not a mistake. It is done on purpose. Any more "mistakes" on your part by saying that it was a mistake will show that its not a mistake, but something that you are doing on purpose.

Except that this wasn't a mistake. It was done on purpose.

And again, this thread is not about Trump. Thought you hated whataboutisms?

Multiple times??????

It's amazing how you can find a criminal prosecution both trivial and profound at the same time.

You have proof that it was done on purpose?

The fact that they admitted that she was not actually trading sex for jobs. They had one set of emails with a friend of hers back in Russia about getting her car insurance renewed. Not multiple sets of emails across different people regarding sex for jobs. Not even a set of emails to someone in the US. This was not a "mistake". It was done on purpose.

This wasn't about her charges, and it wasn't fudging.

You're mistaken on both counts...you have far less credibility then federal prosecutors apparently. What career are you in your error rates are so low and yet acceptable?

What this *was* about, was the request to detain Butina as a flight risk. The detention request laid out 6 key reasons why she should be detained.
One of those six reasons, was that she was in a relationship for deceptive reasons.
One of the two examples of evidence they gave, for one of the six reasons she should be detained, was that she was offering up sex to someone else.
Which she was factually doing in records FBI obtained. However, based on push back, it's argued that it seems more likely to be Russian humor...lost in translation as they say.

So no, this is not about her charges.
This is not some big blow to the defense 1/2 of 1/6 of the argument for detention. But there is little doubt her relationship was duplicitous, look at their photos and age difference and the other evidence.
And prosecutors were not "fudging" anything, it was simply a mistake.

Every institution involving humans makes mistakes. Didn't your parents teach you this growing up? The medical profession kills people with mistakes on a daily basis, but we still use them. Science makes mistakes as part of its function, yet we still use science. And those are some of the more scrutinized areas!

This is right wing propaganda trying to whip up anit-government/DOJ sentiment, nothing more.
This was addressed yesterday in this thread.

That statement has no relevance to the story. You don't repeatedly accuse someone of trading sex for political favors on the basis of a couple of jokes with a friend, then say, "whoopsie! Sorries!"

You know-nothing about the charges against her, please dont pretend to be an expert.

I love people who are self professed experts, and get their "knowledge" from TV or print. You know nothing about what the justice department may have on this woman.

I still wait to learn of these multiple times you speak of

So no honesty from you? Tell me...how often does it take to push a story in your world? If I told you that my family was pushing me to join Christianity would you imagine a family that tries multiple times? If I told you that someone was trying to push me to drink alcohol would you imagine someone trying multiple times to get me to drink alcohol? If I told you that someone was pushing me to go hunting with them would you imagine someone trying multiple times to get me to go hunting with them?

You and I know darn well that the answer to those questions would be "yes". Yet here you are trying to say that pushing a honey pot narrative was just a one time deal that was a mistake.
