This wasn't about her charges, and it wasn't fudging.
You're mistaken on both counts...you have far less credibility then federal prosecutors apparently. What career are you in your error rates are so low and yet acceptable?
What this *was* about, was the request to detain Butina as a flight risk. The detention request laid out 6 key reasons why she should be detained.
One of those six reasons, was that she was in a relationship for deceptive reasons.
One of the two examples of evidence they gave, for one of the six reasons she should be detained, was that she was offering up sex to someone else.
Which she was factually doing in records FBI obtained. However, based on push back, it's argued that it seems more likely to be Russian humor...lost in translation as they say.
So no, this is not about her charges.
This is not some big blow to the defense 1/2 of 1/6 of the argument for detention. But there is little doubt her relationship was duplicitous, look at their photos and age difference and the other evidence.
And prosecutors were not "fudging" anything, it was simply a mistake.
Every institution involving humans makes mistakes. Didn't your parents teach you this growing up? The medical profession kills people with mistakes on a daily basis, but we still use them. Science makes mistakes as part of its function, yet we still use science. And those are some of the more scrutinized areas!
This is right wing propaganda trying to whip up anit-government/DOJ sentiment, nothing more.
This was addressed yesterday in this thread.
