Why do you think that Democrats will "take away your guns"?

Ah, a attempt to deflect. Not a very good deflection.

It's not a deflection....it's an aknowledgement that there are people who are going to go to great extremes to repurpose and customize tools towards the ends of nefarious means.

Also, see the OP. What was the question asked in it? Is not the post I responded to evidence more than damning, as it applies to the OP? On the grounds that some clever folks MIGHT modify a semi auto to be a full auto...we should ban all or most semi autos.

Its a old and worn NRA meme that is designed to whip up gun owners to - in many cases - vote for guns first and against some of their own self interests such as economics. And it has worked beautifully.

uh, no. Perhaps you are too young to remember one's views on gun control were not party-dependent, just as being a "liberal" or "conservative" was not party-dependent...both parties had their liberal and conservative wings. For example, you know those "neocon" warmongering chicken hawks we love to hate (except when her name is Clinton) were originally ("Scoop") Jackson Democrats? Let's not forget who the party of slavery was (Democrat) and who the party who freed the slaves was (Republicans).

What you are seeing has nothing to do with the NRA and more to do with the de-evolution and radicalization of the two major parties to one purist extreme or the other.

I was not born until 1949 so the entire Civil War era is something you have the advantage of over me if you remember it.

Actually, the politicization of the NRA did not happen by accident but was intentional and deliberate as part of a right wing takeover of many parts of our politics. I would recommend reading THE SECOND AMENDMENT: A BIOGRAPHY by Waldman for a detailed documentation of that process.

the work is more accurately fiction. We are close to the same age and highlight a great contrast between those who actually live and participate in history, and those who read about it.

Considering the 'meme' has been going on for decades (as has the active attempts by democrats to ban guns) don't you realize how stupid you just made yourself look?

****ing TDS, man...its rough.

Well Mack, I just lived through two Obama Democrat terms and I now have more guns than I did in 2008.

There goes another of your GOP conspiracy theories.

Glad to see you have read it. What did you find inaccurate about the book and the information he presented in it?

I have stopped watching a lot of the news as I am tired of hearing this and that about Trump. I did not vote for him, but he is the legitimate president of our country and will be until he resigns, loses an election or the worst case gets impeached. The fact is though that Trump brings a lot of this on himself by his constant stupid tweets. I think in the end he enjoys the attention. It seems when he reduces tweeting, so does news of him reduces. I think he wants to be in the news every day and that drives the news, mostly negative. What is the old saying, there is no such thing as bad news for an actor.

I agree. Trump would have fewer problems if he simply kept quiet.
