Trump supporters often make the bizarre claim that Trump is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. Robert Mueller IS playing chess.

Special counsel Robert Mueller faces a unique challenge in his investigation of Russian influence during the 2016 election. In addition to gathering information and prosecuting criminals, he has had to avoid getting fired by his resentful, mercurial, and unscrupulous commander in chief.

Fifteen months into the investigation, he appears to have done a masterful job. By manipulating and distracting Donald Trump and his team of lawyers, he has not only preserved his job, he has maintained complete autonomy and seeded a cluster of spinoff investigations that will be nearly impossible for the White House to stifle. And despite Trump’s insistence that he’s “totally allowed” to intervene whenever he chooses, he won’t dare make a move this close to the midterm election, which means Mueller’s investigation will be protected for at least three more months.

How has he done it?

  • No leaks.
  • Soft rollout.
  • Obstruction distraction.
  • The interview game.
  • Diversification.

The only thing that matters is what's in the reports he sends to congress at the end of the investigation.

Trumps attempts to end the investigation and cast doubts on its legitimacy are extremely disturbing and shouldn't be tolerated by any society that values justice and the rule of law.

I have not, ever called for Trumps impeachment, although I believe he is highly unfit to be President.

Barring something else coming up and putting aside his recent comments on Sessions hurting republicans in the election, which were as disturbing as it gets, the day he moves against the investigation by firing Sessions or Rosenstein or however he chooses to play it to get it shut down, is the day I will resolutely call for his impeachment and never take it back.

But the fact that so many Trump supporters would support him taking such an action is more disturbing than the action itself, he has conditioned them perfectly to believe that anything negative about him is fake and they hath believed hook, line and sinker.

His supporters and enablers are worse than he is, because as they've shown, they have no standards, they haven't gone off the deep end, they lost sight of the deep end, the wharf and the shoreline well over a year ago.

They are now in some singular twilight of their own creation and I fear, they will never escape it.

(The last two lines is an adaption of comments Rex Murphy made about Rob Ford during his shenanigans)

If the interview drama was a distraction, then you really do have to award some genius points there. And there's no denying that for somebody with Trump's less-than-stellar focusing abilities, the investigation has become so gradually multi-pronged by this point that he wouldn't know where to start lobbing missiles. Mueller has been a master of chipping away at the periphery until it's too late for the center to do anything.

Try to imagine what would have happened if Mueller had made a mad dash for the Trump family.

Mueller and his selected Democrat staff have an excellent history of convicting innocent people and selective prosecutions for his own ego and career development.

John Gotti was innocent? What a fascinating position to stake out.

This sounds ignorant.

Not nearly as ignorant as using faked probable cause to launch an investigation.

Are you ok with law enforcement lying about their probable cause? Or, do you refuse to give a **** because "Truuuuuuuuummmmmp!!"?

Where did you get yours?

You think Mueller, a guy who's experience and Resume lends itself high credibility, is doing illegal things just to "Get Trump".

Tell me, at which University did you get your law degree to make such as assertion?

Aw, gee, guys. Don't be so hard on apdst. He made a funny!

Arthur Anderson was innocent. Sadly that was found out after thousands of innocent Americans were fired.

Trump is a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself.

Republicans have been using propaganda and authoritarian tactics for two decades, and it has worked wonders.

The war on drugs, racial dog whistles, Vince Fosters suicide, conspiracies about Ruby Ridge and Oklahoma City, the war of terror, homophobia. They opposed everything and anything that Obama did, while calling him an Islamic socialist, then topping it off with the most blatant power grab when a SC vacancy opened after Scalia's death.

Are we really surprised Trump was able to tap into that climate and win? We shouldn't be.

Long after Trump is gone, the GOP will continue to run candidates that share his objectives.

Is Mueller totally infallible?

I've read The Constitution.

4th Amendment

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Now, with all your might, explain to use how it can be legal to lie about probable cause used to open an investigation. Can't wait to hear this. :lamo

Well mate, you better take your law degree and get Mueller shut down to protect your demagogue of a President, if its such an open and shut case, I'm sure you'll have no issues.

I knew you couldn't respond with anything intelligent.

I knew you couldn't respond with anything intelligent.

I don't know why you're responding at all, I thought you would have already booked your flight to DC to challenge Muellers illegal investigation in court on constitutional grounds and get it shut down.

You seem to think you have an airtight case... Why haven't you got to work yet?

The DOJ could shut down the Special Counsel investigation right now, but they're missing apdst's key evidence: the 4th Amendment!

Mueller has one job to do and that is to drag out his investigation as long as he can to keep public eyes from looking at the criminal methodology of the Obama team illegally spying on Trump in order to giver Hillary the election.
