But the real story here is how McCain even made his funeral an effort to push the real America forward. Aside from Bush, Obama, and Clinton at the funeral, there was also Vladimir Kara-Murza and Ivanka Trump. One of these is a Putin rival; and the other has had to perform damage control on behalf of her father's behavior. McCain invited liberals, conservatives, and foreign dignitaries who share pro-democratic visions and an understanding that political opponents do not have to be enemies.

Trump does not belong in this group.

You forgot to mention perhaps McCain's most constant friend & companion of his many foreign policy indulgences,
Mikhail Saakashvili! Saakashvili was Georgia's leader during the nation's brief 2008 conflict with Russia. He
lost the presidency in 2013 elections, fleeing abroad amid allegations of abuse of power. He was given a chance to regain
respectability in 2014 being appointed by Poroshenko governor of Odessa in neighboring Ukraine, but was expelled from
that country last month . Saakashvili a persona-non-grata in two countries that's an almost impossible accomplishment.

I wonder what the funeral organizers were thinking by even inviting both Poroshenko & Saakashvili in to the same room
after Poroshenko promised Saakashvili would not be allowed to ever enter Ukraine again & if he tried he would be
extradicted to Georgia. Poroshenko awarded Ukrainian citizenship to the former Georgian president
until he had enough of the troublemaker from Georgia. Ukrainian border guards are currently doing everything they can
to ensure that Saakashvili does not enter the country. Earlier this year Saakashvili who had a history of mixing up
wishful thinking with reality vowed to return to Ukraine to oust ex-ally Poroshenko.

Apparently they both showed more graciousness than some have shown in the same circumstance.

The story here is not that a person stayed away.

The story is that the person absent was told to stay away.

As always, if it didn't fly, blow up or hurt Trump, McCain was not interested.
