It is not only those people of color from Africa and Central and South America that the Trumpsters are deporting, it is also Vietnamese who fought on our side and came here after the fall of Vietnam to the Communist North. Even though there is a treaty that is supposed to keep them safe, the Trump Administration has apparently already sent some back that were covered by the treaty. I can see now this country is whites only. Next it will be the Hmong. They are the hill fighters that fought for us and will probably be killed if sent back as both the Vietnamese hate them.

This story is concerning that former south Vietnam people that assisted the US in the war may be deported, but race, as far as the story you posted reads, has nothing to do with this.

Plus, it doesn't seem to be as big a number as the beginning of the article or the article title would have you believe. From the article:

"According to ICE figures, 71 Vietnamese people were deported to Vietnam last year, compared to 35 in 2016, and 32 in 2015. The figures do not state when the deportees arrived in the United States."

71 is not a flood of deportations, but, if one of them is killed due to being deported then that is concerning to me. The excuse given by the former US ambassador that the VC would be unhappy that these folks would be against them and be "a destabilizing force" in their country falls under the category of not our problem, however.

I still have concerns about this, but the OP twist to make it about race just deflects from the real issues that make this concerning, and don't have the obvious hoped for affect.

Well if the liberal democrats cared so much about these people then they shouldn't have been a pro-communist lobby during the Vietnam war. Like why is there a communist government? because our political leadership didn't properly manage the war effort due to fear of political blowback domestically.

Now, lets look at the details listed in the article, of the 8,600 people targeted 7,800 have criminal convictions, meaning while here as a non-US national they have purposefully violated our criminal codes which are clearly and publically published for all to know about, so they performed an act they knew or should have known was a crime, got convicted, and deportation is possible for that. Later in the article it explains some are otherwise unlawfully in the United States, the remedy for which is deportation. That means the remaining 1,000 people are not legal residents, did not have a valid asylum claim or didn't make one, etc. Also the article goes on to explain the issue is over people who generally left Vietnam well after the war, and not those who necessarily fled it.

So the narrative you made is not even supported by your own source.

Pre-1995 Vietnam refugees were granted immunity from deportation. You should have seen that in the article, if you actually read it.

by whom? I can't find where this agreement was ratified by the senate, hence it is merely a suggestion and not law, the law provides for the removal of individuals who violate US Criminal law, and while we may agree to not deport certain people, no right to such was created by a purely administrative agreement. Unless this was ratified by the senate and I just missed it, this doesn't really matter that much.

We know. American promises mean nothing. We see that a lot here lately.

Much ado...

Seems the previous administration was also deporting them. Where was the poutrage? yes...71 in 2017, but 35 in 2006, 32 in 2015. And the individuals being discussed appear to be involved in...how does the source article put it? Serious crimes? Thats not good...right?

TRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMPPPPPPP!!!!!!!

(oh...BTW...the story is 5 months old. One can tell you are really spun up on all of this)

It's an illigimate promise by a pro-open borders administration in violation of our laws, non-ratified=not a promise, or at least only a promise as long as the administration that made it is in office.
