i know that when i wake up in the morning, Canada is probably my biggest fear. if we don't win the stupid milk war, Canada might invade and give us affordable health care.
 
I seem to remember a mention of one category of dairy where we might be getting an excessive amount of it from Canada ... but I don't remember the one ... and it has to be a very small percentage of the whole trade picture, even the whole dairy trade picture.

Maybe Bucky has that in mind?

No he isn't. The Canadians apparently understand our laws and system of government better than Trump and the clowns he's surrounded himself with. There won't be any meaningful changes to NAFTA without Congressional approval. Period. No alternative facts. No alternative reality. No fake news. No nothing. And, again, plenty of the cowards in in the GOP still hold the line on free trade. And the protectionist-minded guys in the Democratic party hate Trump enough to not do him any favors. The Canadians didn't buckle today because they don't have to. Time is on their side.

How pray tell is Canada taking advantage of US? Can you give me a real answer or just more grievances?

Also how are the US diary subsidies and lumber tariffs fair?

Tell the truth, fair trade is a lie and you want mercantilism.

Sounds like more of ''fair trade'' lie that is just a modern version of mercantilism Trump wants to impose on the rest of the world.

Something folks don't seem to get is what Trump is doing when it comes to trade deals is a goal toward zero tariffs between our friends. And they are deals designed to put a squeeze on China.


Shame on Trump for trusting the media with any off the record comments. But what just transpired by the media shows they are willing to do anything to throw a monkey wrench into negotiations because their goal is to see Trump fail.

Then why did Trump talk about no compromises with Canada? Getting rid of lumber and steel tariffs in exchange for Canada getting rid of its diary system is a compromise,

That's total BS. We have a supply management system for sugar farmers that costs U.S. consumers $1.4 billion a year in higher sugar costs. Not to mention that Florida cane growers are polluting our water with nutrients that cause algae and red tide blooms threatening our tourism industries. Our wanton over production of milk is not an excuse to put Canadian dairy farmers out of business either. I hope Canada tells Trump to F-off. Never has a President deserved it so. Beside s his criminality and sedition, Trump is an idiot and a bully.

Trump said he wants zero tariffs from either side, why are you against that, or maybe you’ve got TDS. So tell use how zero tariff free trade is not a good thing

Then why did Trump say there should be no compromises with Canada, Canada dropping dairy tariffs in exchange for Trump dropping steel and lumber tariffs is a compromise.

I think this no tariffs thing is a lie, Trump has no desire to take on special interests at home that supports certain tariffs and subsidies, I think he wants mercantilism. He even said he would not agree with the EU for both sides to drop auto tariffs.

I am being realistic, Canada might have to give up its dairy system in these talks, but we should get something in return.
