USA Trump - Mexico reach trade deal

Fine, but just realize that Trump putting tariffs on Canada would throw Canadians out of work and I do not see what Canadians have done to earn such treatment.

You do not want deal with the real world effects of Trump's threats and bluster.

Trump doesn't want to put tariffs on Canada. Unfortunately, Trudeau isn't very smart and Trump just might have to put tariffs on Canada. If Canadians have heartburn over something like that happening, they should probably have a talk with Trudeau.

I don't want to punish Canada and I don't think Trump wants to, either. Anything that happens to Canada will be the result of Canadian decisions.

Not making **** up man, you treat Trudeau (rather inoffensive milquetoast politician) as having done something bad to earn Trump's wrath, but you can't even state what that is.

Frankly the fact that you have no idea what you want from a Canada US trade deal, makes me think you do not know anything about this issue and are just repeating talking points from Trump and Conservative Tree House without any deep understanding of the key issues, you have no right to dismiss anyone when you have no idea what you are talking about.

US auto workers earn what, $80/hour including benefits? No one is going to move manufacturing back to the US because 40% of Mexican workers will need to earn $16/hour.

Plus, raising home manufacturing from 62% to 75%? Yeah that's huuuuuuge

Oh, wait, I know. It's the new deal cracking down on pirate cam DVDs!


The multinationals, who typically fund those Mexican companies as well as non-NAFTA countries will lose their stranglehold and their ability to skirt US tariffs.

Go ahead, tell us exactly what in the new deal motivates, say, an air conditioner company to stay in the US. Or an industrial bearings company that doesn't sell to the auto industry. Or perhaps companies like HP, IBM, NEC, DuPont, BASF, LG....

Translation: You know that NAFTA will not fundamentally alter the balance of trade, or keep businesses in the US, and you can't defend those claims.

You can dismiss me, but that doesn't change the effects of the deal one iota.
