Trump has put the flag on the Whitehouse back to full mast, and put the nix on a press release praising McCain's service.

This guy has no bottom when it comes to going low.

The usual Trumplican effort to burn the candle from both ends:
"But...but...but Melania Trump has tweeted out of respect for McCain and the WH has communicated its condolences to the family.

Nobody elected Melania to anything and nobody gives a rats behind what blather leaves her keyboard or her lips and nobody elected the WH staff either.

Trump will resist what every President since Washington has done in these circumstances and his woeful base will applaud him for it.

Technically protocol is being followed:

For thirty days after the death of a current or former president or president-elect, as occurred after the death of President Reagan and the death of President Ford.
For ten days after the death of a current vice president, current or retired chief justice, or current Speaker of the House of Representatives.
From the day of death until interment of an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, a secretary of an executive or military department, a former vice president, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate,[60] or the governor of a state, territory, or possession.
On the day of death and the following day for a Member of Congress.
On Memorial Day until noon.
Every September 11 in remembrance of the September 11 attacks.[61]
Upon presidential proclamation, usually after the death of other notable figures or tragic events.

Imagine that being your dying wish: "I don't want him at my funeral!".

With all of the bad quality work McCain put in he certainly does not deserve more than the normal custom for a Senator dying in office...In fact I argue that he deserves less...He died in office only because he did not have the honor to resign when he was no longer physically able to do the job.

Trump is fine here.

Much as I like Melania, I don't think that she can substitute for her husband in the discharge of his duties. As the head of state, the president should be a unifying figure in times like these, upon the death of a prominent American. Trump's refusal to honor McCain's lifelong service to his country is churlish and petty.

Did I say that the First Lady was substituting for her spouse? No, I did not. I responded to the statement that nobody gives a rat's ass what she says. Period. You're using my post as a platform and excuse to comment on her spouse.

How good it is to see who out there is a Trump cultist. You always have an excuse for him. Yes McCain dis-invited Trump from his funeral after years of having trump make terrible negative statements about McCain to try and put McCain down to try and build himself, trump up. Fat Chance of anyone doing that. McCain was everything trump was not. He stood tall in the saddle while trump crawls with his belly on the ground. Yet you just go on making excuses for someone who is, as we used to say in Texas, lower than a snakes belly.

I was not someone who would have voted for McCain,but I respected him. He gave his whole life to public service while the jacka** you whorship spent his whole life either going bankrupt or forcing others into going bankrupt by not paying his bills. No, they wouldn't because too many here take their cues from the MSM and have such irrational animus that it doesn't matter at all what Trump does one way or another. Whatever he said or did would be criticized. Not going to the funeral? Insensitive, selfish pig. Going to the funeral? Insensitive, selfish pig.
